Senator Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) said President Joe Biden should “very seriously” consider preemptive pardons for members of the House January 6 select committee after president-elect Donald Trump said last week they should be jailed.

Sanders twice called Trump’s recent statement “outrageous.”

“This is what authoritarianism is all about. It’s what dictatorship is all about,” the former Democrat said on NBC’s Meet the Press Sunday morning. “You do not arrest elected officials who disagree with you, who undertake an investigation.”

During a wide-ranging interview with NBC News host Kristen Welker last Sunday, Trump said the seven House Democrats and two House Republicans who served on the January 6 panel “should go to jail.”

Comment:
There should be an investigation into the destruction of evidence by Pelosi's Jan 6 committee.
There should be an investigation into the death of the unarmed protester Ashly Babbitt.
There should be an investigation into the abnormally long prison sentences of the Jan 6 protesters.
Bernie Sanders is a paranoid left wing knuttjob.
Trump is not the "authoritarian".
In fact, what Trump is battling is the far-left authoritarianism of the corrupt Democrat Party.

That would be a double edged sword, if Sleepy Joe gave pardons. All of the members of the committee could be called to testify under oath, and with their pardons granted, would not be able to plead the 5th, as it wouldn't apply as they couldn't be prosecuted for the crimes.

They'd have to tell the truth.

Well you got Lauren Boebart on your side, but the Republican head of committee, investigating the work of the J6 committee, says there is no evidence of them destroying evidence. Are you saying you do not believe in the evidence of the J6 Committee and you do not believe the Republican investigation of the J6 Committee? So now what. Do we need a Republican committee to investigate the Republican Committee and investigated the J6 Committee?

Senator Bern Bern is right.

No MAGA revenge tour allowed.

We need honesty something democrats, never-trumpers and rinos lack.

Are you not concerned about the lack of honesty in our government

The longer time moves on from 2016, the more he tarnishes his once populist appeal.

elektra worries about honesty and integrity, yet supports Trump. OK.
Lafayette cowardly does not respond directly with a reply to my comment so that his/her stand alone comment is not seen.
Lafayette attaches emotions to my comments that I do not have.

Lafayette demonstrates no integrity or honesty

The J-6 committee... both the republican's and democrats conspired to frame a former US president for a crime... they hid and destroyed emails text messages and evidence that showed Trump was not guilty...
If a prosecutor and a Grand Jury did this they would all be facing 25 years in prison...

You do know, that when he started talking about ways to recoup, he pointed to Medicare and Medicaid first, as if they weren't funded by law from payroll taxes. Then, when asked about specific cuts to medicare, reiterated "Nothing is off the table".

Are you calling him a liar or suggesting the House Republican was being disingenuous in some way? Why would he lie?

I have no idea what your paraphrased comments are referring to. I need transcripts if we are to honestly discuss this.

What that means is there is no damage a party can do that can't be hidden by a blanket pardon. If there is proof of crimes committed, then the participant needs to reap the punishment, and the victims of their lawfare needs exonerated.
Throwing pardons up in the air like party favors, for criminals to cover themselves with, is bullshit and needs to stop.

False.

DELETED & ENCRYPTED FILES
The Select Committee also deleted or failed to turn over more than 100 digital documents from the hard drives the Select Committee provided to the Subcommittee. This included numerous password-protected and encrypted files, and in some cases, these files were deleted just days before Republicans took over the majority in January 2023.

In order to reconcile the significant discrepancy between the four terabytes, that Chairperson Thompson claimed he turned over and the less than three terabytes actually received, the Subcommittee contracted with a digital forensics team to conduct a forensic analysis. As a result, the forensics team recovered over 100 deleted or password-protected documents that would otherwise not have been accessible by simply plugging the hard drives into a computer.

After recovering these password-protected documents, Chairman Loudermilk sent Representative Thompson a letter dated January 18, 2024, requesting “a list of passwords for all password-protected files created by the Select Committee.” In response, Representative Thompson claimed to have no knowledge about any passwords, writing, “I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.”

One recovered file, which was not encrypted but was deleted on January 1, 2023, revealed the identity of a witness who worked in the White House and sat for a transcribed interview with the Select Committee. This witness had firsthand knowledge of President Trump’s actions on January 6. This witness’ testimony was not archived by the Select Committee, and until the Subcommittee recovered this file, the Subcommittee had no record of this individual providing testimony to the Select Committee. At this time, the Subcommittee will not release the witness’ name.

Archived files that are encrypted serve no purpose other than to hide information from successive Congresses. Responding to Chairman Loudermilk’s letter, Representative Thompson, however, either no longer could or refused to provide such passwords.

The J6 committee was a fraud, just 2 Republicans on the committee, no one that the Republican leadership wanted on it.

Just 2 Republicans who shared their hatred for the millions of little Trumpsters.

Ordinarily, committees are supposed to have opposition representation.

If TRUMP is going to ignore laws and set up authoritarian government then why would he not also ignore a pardon.

During the middle of this bullshit, I'm actually wondering why the Democrats could actually overturn an actual primary and install someone who didn't even run as the candidate.

What the fuck were you thinking??,
