Ben Carson Says Muslims Should Be Disqualified From Presidency

Right after 9/11 if you had said you supported a Muslim for president you would have gotten your ass beaten to a pulp.....especially in NYC.

Now liberals actually think it's racist to not want a Muslim president.

We did a whole lot of stupid things after 9/11 because we were scared.

Frankly, I don't think a Muslim could get elected president, even now.

I've been saying it, the GOP is truly ******* insane.
Ben Carson Says Muslims Should Be Disqualified From Presidency
A supporter at a Donald Trump created quite a stir on Thursday when, among other incendiary remarks, he falsely claimed President Obama was a Muslim.

But the comment raises an interesting question: What if it were true? Why should it matter if Obama was a Muslim?

On Meet The Press, Chuck Todd posed that exact question to Ben Carson, the retired neurosurgeon who is closely trailing Trump in the polls. Carson said he would not support a Muslim president and that only candidates with a faith “consistent with the Constitution” should be President.

CHUCK TODD: Let me wrap this up by finally dealing with what’s been going on, Donald Trump, and a deal with a questioner that claimed that the president was Muslim. Let me ask you the question this way. Should a President’s faith matter? Should your faith matter to voters?

BEN CARSON: Well, I guess it depends on what that faith is. If it’s inconsistent with the values and principles of America, then of course it should matter. But if it fits within the realm of America and consistent with the constitution, no problem.

TODD: So do you believe that Islam is consistent with the constitution?

CARSON: No, I don’t, I do not.

TODD: So you–

CARSON: I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation. I absolutely would not agree with that.
It's ignorance and arrogance more than insanity, along with contempt for the Constitution, its case law, and the rule of law common to most on the right, and Carson in particular.

Carson's ignorance of the Constitution is well documented, here we see another facet of failed conservative dogma, the wrongheaded notion that the United States is a 'Christian' Nation, that only Christians should be 'allowed' to become president, and the arrogance typical of many Christians that their religion is 'superior' to all other religions:

'In suggesting a religious test for potential presidents — where some religions would be “inconsistent” with the constitution — Carson appears somewhat unfamiliar with the text of the constitution. Article VI, paragraph 3 of the United States constitution states “no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.”'

Here we have more evidence reaffirming the fact that Christian fundamentalists and the social right are indeed the bane of the American Nation.

When is one of you brainless dolts going to quote where Carson said it should be against the law for a Muslim to be on the ballot? If you can't produce the evidence, all your chest beating and histrionics are beside the beside the point.

Actually it's kind of hard to discern Carson's word salad.

Well, if he is incoherent and unintelligible, this can only mean that he is a Conservative!

In 2011, Carson gave a speech about “Creationism vs. Evolution.” Ironically he began the discussion talking about the frontal lobe of the human brain that allows human reasoning. He then later proved that the brain may allow reason, but certainly doesn’t guarantee it, as he then abandoned reason for madness.

“This whole creation evolution controversy has been raging on really from the beginning. Because what is Satan’s plan? To get rid of god. To disparage god. To mischaracterize god.” Seriously, this is what Dr. Carson said in the year 2011.

This thread isn't even talking about carson wanting to legally ban muslims from holding office, he does believe this though, after all, islam doesn't "fit" the constitution.

That's exactly what this thread is about, you lying numskull Every time the Constitution is brought up, you are discussing making it illegal for Muslims to run for public office. Otherwise, there's no point in mentioning the Constitution.

In other words, it's plain common sense. Muslims view America as the enemy. They despise everything American stands for. Only the insane would vote for a Muslim.

As pointed out with Obama being elected twice

52% of the people are stupid

I just love how the rwnjs make themselves look stupid.

You are a poster boy for the classic left wing nutjob, _42.

Dr. Carson is not arguing for a religious litmus test as a qualification for the Office of President. He is clearly suggesting only that one who supports Islam is likely to care less for the security of America and more for the triumph of that vile insane religion. Rational voters, therefore, should probably hesitate before voting for some schmuck Islamist.

I'll grant you he may be irrational on that issue, but this entire thread is based on a lie.

Except that we're a nation founded by Christians and Jews, you'd be correct. Then again, you being correct is like finding twin unicorn feathers

Funny, you read from a book (the bible) that mentions Unicorns no less than 8 times. so you are saying the Bible isn't true?

Numbers 23:22 “God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn.”
Numbers 24:8 “God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows.”
Job 39:9 “Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?”
Job 39:10 “Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?”
Psalms 29:6 “He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.”
Psalms 92:10 “But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.”
Deuteronomy 33:17 “His glory is like the firstling of his bullock, and his horns are like the horns of unicorns: with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh.”
Psalms 22:21 “Save me from the lion’s mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.”
Isaiah 34:7 “And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.”

They didn't have feathers

Well, the bible isn't clear on that point, one way or the other. The Unicorns in the bible might have had feathers, if they existed.

But to the point, the thing is, Christianity isn't compatible with democracy. Either you follow God's law or the will of the people.

I guess it works if the two agree. But who does the interpreting and what if it doesn't?

Facing FACTS there are over 3000 Americans, killed that day, and rescuers that have died from the hazards of the WTC since then, that would still be with us today... Personally I'd trade ALL of Islam for those Americans back, and in the health they were BEFORE the scum of the world attacked us!

I believe that in our current times that many if not most Americans would have difficulty voting for a Muslim to be president. That being said, Muslims have the right to run for the office if they meet the requirements set by the constitution.

Ben Carson was simply being honest that he would not support a Muslim being elected president. The title of this thread is untrue. Carson did not say that Muslims should be disqualified from holding the office.

"

Carson is incapable of taking much of a position on anything. He dissembles, hems and haws. Then, when he does speak, its pretty lukewarm.

Perfect example.

First line says screw the Constitution. Second line says screw the Constitution. Third line, oh yeah, that damn pesky First Amendment.

He contradicted himself and might have done himself an injury while balancing on that fence.

And he often makes no sense, or is just factually wrong – as in this case.

Word of advice to Carson

For over 200 years Americans didn't feel comfortable with a black as president.

He should be ashamed of himself.

Carson is a bigot
