China on Monday criticised countries making trade deals with the US at its expense, warning of countermeasures against those "appeasing" Washington.
"Appeasement will not bring peace, and compromise will not be respected," a spokesperson for Beijing's commerce ministry said in a statement.
"To seek one's own temporary selfish interests at the expense of others' interests is to seek the skin of a tiger," Beijing said.
That approach, it warned, "will ultimately fail on both ends and harm others".
Who knew China was all about the greater good?
We're the biggest swinging you know what in the room and yet before Trump our so-called "leaders" were so afraid of what other countries thought of us.
Those that went before thought that we were so financially powerful that we were willing to make bad deals so that other countries could protect their own meager markets.
Those times are over, and everyone needs to start acting like it.
