In your vigilance to defend your values of the American Republic, your zeal will destroy it.

Well, I'm very open to seeing how it might be positive. I don't believe anyone has actually told me a positive consequence of Columbus's discovery of the New World.

Also, how is my actual position in stark contrast to my claimed position? I'd love to know, so I can reconcile the two.
Nobody has told you? Do you not have a mind of your own, child?

If the results of Columbus coming to America have all been negative, then why are all those untold millions of people wanting to come to the United States?

You claimed that you see both the positive and the negative, yet you obvipusly don't. You sure do have that Woke ability to talk put of both sides of your mouth down pat, that's for sure.

Hey, if you think you could have done what Columbus or Leif Eriksson did, with the technology, and the scant seaman's legends about some fabled land laying thousands of miles from civilization. . .

He did it for profit not because he had a burning desire to see what was on the other side of the hill and he had no idea how far it was gonna be because they had no information on the ocean or land masses in the area.

and?

"Wokeness" was a long way off when Columbus discovered the Americas.
I agree.

I don't think that has anything to do with the facts about what Columbus did upon his return voyages.

That is what chaffs the leftists. It doesn't bother me in the least.

You compare that to shit America did in it's past. . . meh, no big deal. He is still a historical icon that deserves respect and accolades compared to other folks of HIS TIME PERIOD did, which, was nothing.

Zinn's account lacks historical context. That is the problem.

He wishes to place it as an oppressor/oppressed narrative. But the fact of the matter is, that is what all of history is, it is competition, when you look at it through the lens of an Anthropological perspective. All of the world and nature competes. Socialists and Communists want to deny this, and all of natural law.

If you study any of the other Great Apes, or any other organisms on the planet, and deny our origins as a species, and somehow believe we are gods and not creatures of our biological and social origins? You deny our heritage.

It lacks a fundamental understanding of what humans are, and what we have been, and what we can strive to be. We must acknowledge the past to strive to a better future. Denying the accomplishments of the past is no way to live IMO.

Working right through Indigenous Peoples Day, since that is what the media in MN is calling it.

Building huge houses for white liberals out in the country on land that Indigenous People used to occupy.
We are too busy for holidays.

Yet he was not the first human to do as such and he never did see or touch the North American continent.
The island if Hispaniola are on the Continent plate of North America.

Look into the continental plates.

All hail the Great Saint Sir Columbus! Without which we would have no Columbus Ohio,
no Columbia River nor Columbia Records, no Columbian weed nor coffee, and no
established, developed, organized North America and United States!

More than that. . .

District of Columbia. . .

Columbia (/kəˈlʌmbiə/; kə-LUM-bee-ə) is the female national personification of the United States. It was also a historical name applied to the Americas and to the New World. The association has given rise to the names of many American places, objects, institutions and companies, including the District of Columbia; Columbia, South Carolina; Columbia University; "Hail, Columbia" and Columbia Rediviva; the Columbia River; and the Canadian province of British Columbia. Images of the Statue of Liberty (Liberty Enlightening the World, erected in 1886) largely displaced personified Columbia as the female symbol of the United States by around 1920, although Lady Liberty was seen as an aspect of Columbia.[1] However, Columbia's most prominent display today is being part of the logo of the Hollywood film studio Columbia Pictures.

I can't believe all you can do is hit a nail with a hammer.
Sheet a roof, read engineering prints, lay out an entire house, repair forklifts and machinery, work at heights that scare the shit out of people, trim, cabinets, windows, siding, roofing, final touches.. etc...
Yeah, That's all.
Fucking moron.

Nobody has told you? Do you not have a mind of your own, child?
I have more of a mind of my own than someone that doesn't seek perspective. Right now I am actively conversing with people that disagree with me, doing so in a calm, respectful manner, and expressing an openness to change my mind based on an expression of a counterargument. I'd love to hear how you find fault in that.

Also, I think you completely misunderstand what I meant by "nobody has told me." I'm referring to this specific thread. I have made an argument for why the effects of Columbus's discovery of the New World have been negative, and until you right here, nobody has offered any counterargument. That is what I was saying.
If the results of Columbus coming to America have all been negative, then why are all those untold millions of people wanting to come to the United States?
Alright, so the founding of the United States is a positive consequence of the discovery of the New World. Even if we are to suppose the United States is a great country, it is very clearly not the only great country, and it's also not the only country in the Americas. Immigration is a complex thing motivated by a plethora of different factors, some of which are political, but most of which are generally economic. Also, the United States has one of the most open immigration policies in the world. It is bound to face more immigrants, given that it's not an oppressive country and it's more or less economically sound, both of which are true and have been consistently for quite some time (with temporary hiccups here and there).

I don't see how the United States being founded somehow outweighs all of the negatives that have occurred as a result of the discovery of the New World (many of which the United States played a direct role in), and I still don't see why it's worth being celebrated, especially since we already celebrate the founding of the United States in and of itself.
You claimed that you see both the positive and the negative, yet you obvipusly don't. You sure do have that Woke ability to talk put of both sides of your mouth down pat, that's for sure.
I didn't claim that I saw both the positive and the negative, I claimed that I was open to seeing both the positive and the negative. I cannot see something except through perspective, and nobody has offered me perspective until now.

As for the wokeness, you will lump anyone into the "woke" category no matter who they are, so I won't take that one to heart.
Yes. It produced YOU.
Thanks babe. <3 I will list you in the "positive consequences" category.
