Today is a great day for the united hard-core commies of CSU-CDU-SPD-FDP-Greens-Lefts, deindustrialization of Germany taking place.

Now BASF is on the verge of shutting down its huge chemical plants in Germany due to a shortage of natural gas. However, the shutdown of production could be permanent, as no one knows if the plants can ever be restarted after a shutdown, as the very act of shutting them down could destroy the system.
BASF is critical to the global supply chain for fertilizers, petroleum refineries, pharmaceuticals, plastics, consumer goods, industrial materials and more. If BASF were to fail, Western European industry would quickly be bankrupted, and the global supply chain crisis would worsen dramatically, far beyond what we have seen with the closure of Covid.
To understand all of this, start by looking at this Reuters article from March 2022, "BASF says it would halt production if gas supplies fall to half its needs." This article explains:
Germany's BASF said on Wednesday it would have to halt production if natural gas supplies fell to less than half its needs, as the world's largest chemical company warned of the damage the energy crisis in Europe would bring to its operations.
The article reveals that BASF not only uses natural gas as an energy source for chemical production, but that the hydrocarbons contained in natural gas are the feedstock for the production of important chemicals such as ammonia (NH3), which requires hydrogen (H) from hydrocarbon molecules.
