In this case it's pure politics.
Cops are told which laws they have to enforce....then are told not to enforce them....even accused and indicted for crimes when they do. The cops are on the front lines dealing with the scum of society every day. It starts to wear on you eventually. I have met very few that didn't develop a bad attitude from dealing with liquor swilling drug addicts spitting and attacking them for doing their jobs.
Now we have a POS president that automatically sides with criminals or his friends against the cops...even before he hears any evidence.
You have a rather strange take on how things work, Nosmo! The Police do not set policy...nor do they make the laws. Policies ARE what politicians do. To say that failures of bad policy is anyone's fault other than the people who CREATED those bad policies is a stretch.

Police departments do have "standard operating procedures", Nosmo but that hardly means that THEY determine policy! When the Baltimore Police didn't resist looting during the first night of the riots it wasn't because that was their standard operating procedure...they didn't resist looting because they had a stand down order that was given to them by the Mayor of Baltimore. Politicians make policy and the laws. Police forces simply attempt to implement those policies and enforce those laws.
As for what created the problems in Baltimore? Listen...when one political party has overwhelmingly controlled a city for over six DECADES...it's hard to understand how you can blame what's wrong with that city on anyone else BUT that political party! I'm sorry but the Democrats OWN the problems in Baltimore because the Democrats have OWNED that city for nearly three generations!

I see that picture and I think if there were National Guard with arresting powers, those thugs could be spending a year in jail and paying the city back for the cost of the car they mutilated. Once they get out, they would be on parole and forced to work for the city where a quarter of their salary goes to reimburse the cost of the police car.
