Bachmann signs The Family Lead pledge

it doesn't matter... porn shouldn't be included. and really, wouldn't it make more sense for the rightwingnuts to worry about their own morality and stop trying to govern everyone elses'?

what i'd kind of like to know is why no one is talking about the fact that the "pledge" says black families were better off under slavery.

so the wingnuts are both racists and loons. it's just so funny to watch them talk about morality.

They have now "removed" that language from the pledge.

yes. but it was there when bachmann and santorum signed it. and can you imagine the group melt down that would have occurred had the president sighed something similar???

hes got it covered.....the media would not have said boo.

Also: That link I noted doesn't really analyze the effect porn has, especially among teens.

They made guesses.

We've gone from the days where women were legal property of men to just expecting women to be their willing sexual property. I teach high school - those girls are not comfortable with their boyfriends' expectations.

Others, though, suspect that frequent exposure may erode young people's ability to see the opposite sex in a wholesome way.

"We don't really know, but we suspect that exposure to, say, 10, 20, 30,000 pages of pornography may bias a young person in terms of what they consider a normal relationship," says DiClemente, who says it will be up to policymakers and parents to decide what to do if that turns out to be the case.

Not to mention that porn (not surprisingly) is a feeder into mafia and organized crime.

Today's porn isn't your parent's porn.

We do legislate to protect people from themselves. Like alcohol and drugs and protecting against predatory bankers.

Again, it's more about the effects of porn than it is the low class sleezy men and women who do it.

More "I hate Bachmann" Spam? Gee,how fresh & original. What's next form this OP? Another boring "I Hate Palin" Thread? Man,can't wait. :(

we do not legislate to keep people from drinking. we legislate to keep people from being injured by drunks.

and i don't think drugs should be outlawed either.

don't you have an "ihateobama" thread to post on?

*yawn*

Don't mind him, he's having a little hissy fit in threads I've made because I called him a spammer.

you're changing the subject. no one said kids should have access to porn. (you know, given that's what your link refers to)

and given that you felt the need to change the goal posts, i'd say that's an acknowledgment of your flawed argument.

I know I certainly haven't said that kids should have access to porn. She really hasn't offered up any reasonable arguments yet.

Actually, the porn industry does aim at teens, so I think it's relevant.

Bachmann's reasoning for banning porn is flawed, but it doesn't mean that I think pornography is a Constitutional right.

And because porn is so widespread and unregulated, teens do have access to it.

sell 'em, tax 'em, control their sales and production and safety.

eh... i'm ok with it. they have registered addicts in other countries. you think they do more or less drugs than people in this country?

Which drugs that you listed do you believe we should be throwing people in prison for using?

oh and just an update..the not quite so social liberal rep. when we want or don't want her to be .......

Snowe: No Medicare Or Social Security Cuts In Debt Deal | Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe (ME) said she will not support any debt deal that includes cuts to the two social safety net programs, citing “strong bipartisan support.” “There are solvency problems with both programs. They have to be addressed but not as part of the debt reduction talks,”

she hates porn. ok, it's her right. but there are certain people who like to find every reason for government to step in to stop what they hate... even when it's intended for adults. they can't separate prevention of criminality (a legitimate role of government)n with babysitting adults (NOT a legitimate role of government... well, except to the right.

are you sure this one said she's a dem?

Portugal at the very least decriminalized all drugs. Worked pretty well for them. I remember reading they cut their addict rate in half.

I remember reading Netherlands was closing eight of their prisons due to a lack of criminals.

Meanwhile, here in the U.S the prison population is at an all-time high thanks to the War on Drugs while violent crime has been steadily declining since the early 80's.
