Define porn.
what if I wanna have intimate photos taken of my wife?
s'okay. the supreme court couldn't define it either. but they know it when they see it.![]()
does it take a trained eye?![]()
Actually, that part of the pledge is to protect children from pornography (likely by having some sort of censorship - parental or some sort of control mechanisms for parent...just a guess). I certainly saw no indication of any advocacy for a ban on it. But, if that is the case, then you are right; she will need some good luck with that.Michele "One Who Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" Bachmann and her ilk has never seen a far rightwing pledge that they didn't want to sign.
The pledge is clearly advocating and/or suggesting the banning of pornography.
Good luck with THAT!
But, based on her CV, I don't think she is quite that thick.
Your very words speak to the vagueness of your understanding of her pledge.
It lumped women and children together, so common sense dictates that it's an all-around ban of pornography.
Someone mentioned earlier that they/she should have separated it out, if it was truly the case that it's just an effort to protect children, however, the pledge does not state that. It's lumped together.
She is that thick...she's said some of the craziest stuff this side of the election in the past 2 years. "Gangster government" "all out expose on Congress", etc.
What CV are you looking at when you say that?
Am I the only one that doesn't care if porn is banned?
Also, I am going to laugh of someone asks President Obama what he thinks about porn.
"President Obama, what is your response to Bachman's pledge to end porn? Do you agree that porn is dangerous for America's youth? Does pornography exploit women?"
"Uh, well, when I was at Harvard law...hey, have you SEEN the price of arugula at Whole Foods?"
"Such living conditions have been used as a method of 'psychological warfare' against prisoners, in order to both destroy the morale of inmates and break the spirit of individuals," he writes in the lawsuit, adding that he must cope with "sensory deprivation" and "a poor standard of living." He also claims to suffer from "chronic masturbation syndrome and severe sexual discomfort," and says that pornography is an essential part of his treatment.

I posted the vow, its right there in a thumbnail from the pledge site pdf....here.
Yes, I also read the original vow. Are you ignoring what I said on purpose?
It's not just kids that are being mentioned in the same sentence as banning all forms of pornography, it's women as well. Hence why it can be taken as saying they want to ban more than child pornography. They should have split it into two sentences, one about their stances toward protection of women and then one for children.
I knew you had reading comprehension issues.
I'm simply telling you why I took it wrong in the first place. But hey, just feel free to ignore where I said that if they only mean child pornography then I was wrong with my OP.
Of course I've made mistakes, Doggie. I just don't consistently make them, then when caught in what appears to be another example of my inherent dishonesty, I don't say, "Oops, I simply made a mistake".
You operate a lot like a grocery store I no longer frequent. They rarely had the price that was programmed into the cash register the same as the lower price advertized on the shelf or the weekly flyer. I got so tired of the lame excuse that they simply made a mistake and charged me more when they always made that same 'mistake'.
It's a trust thing. Folks who know the value of being trusted make sure they have integrity and keep it.
Except I don't consistently make them either. But hey, if you wish to make sweeping generalizations about me, go right ahead. I can think of two threads in the last couple of months where I had to say I was wrong because I was. Feel free to prove me wrong if there are more.
That being said, I'm willing to admit to my mistakes, which is more than what a good amount of people on this board have never and will never do.

This is one of those rare times I wonder what would happen if the majority of judges were women.
SCOTUS has been known to make mistakes. Porn is not a matter of free speech. I don't give a **** what you think. It's part of the overall sex trade.
Just because I disagree with SCOTUS on porn doesn't mean I know nothing of the Constiution. I've never thought that porn should be protected speech, nor do I think rape and sadomasochistic porn is 'harmless expression of oneself'.
Who said that about rape?
