As a conservative, I believe anyone has the right to do whatever they want with their lives...it is none of my business....and I will always support gay marriage.

You know...........I met my first gay person on my first ship in the Navy. He and I had been friends for a while when he told me. I asked him why he told me and he said it just made it easier to be able to be himself once in a while around people he trusted.

Over the next 20 years, I met quite a few more. Interestingly enough, they were more detail oriented and did their jobs better than their straight counterparts. How do I know? Simple, I was a PN and had to prepare exam worksheets for the command every cycle, which meant I had to tally their personal awards, evaluation averages as well as figure out their time in service and length of service.

Me personally? I think they should have the same rights to serve, as well as have the same legal rights that heterosexual couples do.

My question was simply, why this is a big deal? everyone pursues their own chosen ideology, and there is no why in this context, imho.

I was just asking where he was coming from, she is no more right than you or me or NK.

There have been many media outlets that have beat the crap out of this, because there is supposed to be a truce or a focus on financial issues, yet, I have never gotten a satisfactory answer as to why those very same media outlets ( and folks here) beat the drum for doma dadt and the dream act in November ( and there after), while bachmann et al gets whacked if they pursue theirs, as if THEY should just stop?
