Automation and robots taking over jobs. Like tollbooth collectors and cashiers.

When a factory automate it removes the need for a large portion of its employees.

The factory gets more precise and reliable production, lower costs (which means higher profits), no more Workman's Comp, no more holidays, no more overtime, no more employee theft, no more need for as many bathrooms or breakrooms, and more. From the business's viewpoint it is all win. But the workers are destroyed.

But no conservative will ever be in favor of the gov't taking over the means of production.
I never have said the government to take over means of production. Not in this thread or in any thread. What we need possibly is a new idea somebody to create jobs that pay folks good money right out of high school with benefits. And perhaps if somebody wants to go to college they could earn even more money

It doesn’t have to be in factories but for example look at the tech industry and what is known as big Tech and the environmental agency what kind of jobs have they brought us, clearly not good enough ones. So like I said we need some kind of big time CEO to figure something out and bring us good jobs thru the private sector.

Meanwhile honestly the idea of having self automated checkout lines is bad for a lot of reasons. There’s no need for this that is going to far that’s just greed. And it’s not only illuminate jobs but it makes things difficult for the customer to have to scan things with their hands there’s all sorts of issues there it takes way too much time. And it leads to more theft should actually hurt businesses like we saw on the other thread the Walmart in Portland is closing. And there’s Walmarts all over the country they have to close or considering closing specifically in large part due to the self check out lines because that’s where people steal Quite a bit

The unions will be powerless. They will have no workers paying dues. They will not be able to fight an assembly line that has no people. If they could, they would have done so.

The CEOs are still under the control of the stock holders. The stock holders see greater profits with fewer liabilities.

I recall several years ago a CEO decided to make the entry level pay at his company $70,000. Conservatives went crazy. Rush Limbaugh called him a socialist.
But we’ve always had a stock market. You go back to the 20th century the stock market, Wall Street, big business unions were all working together for perhaps 100 years. So we can bring that back in a different capacity through the private sector.

Going back to your earlier point is a concern for the future with regards to automation taking more and more jobs. And the idea of hundreds of thousands or millions of Americans becoming homeless because of it…. You know that with that leads to is a despotic society where like I said there’s gonna be prostitution all over the place because of that and there’s gonna be all sorts of greeting corruption in the very people who think that they’re OK we’ll lose their job as well if somethings not done about this

Government jobs are still pretty good. Like for example if somebody is a corrections officer they have a union protection and they make pretty good money.

It all started with the Marxists plan to get the 15 dollar an hour wage increase. Businesses are in business to make profits because if they dont, then they cannot succeed. So if they cant get the quality of work out of a 15 dollar and hour employee, then they must automate to get the results of that investment. Cashiers at the McDonalds are now Kiosks, that the customer can touch his meal , make the credit card purchase, then walk over to the food service area, and pick up his meal. When the automation to provide the food becomes cheaper than the burger flipper and fry cook, then businesses will go that route. The minimum wage puke will either learn robotics or be left out in the cold.

It started well before that. Auto manufacturing started in the 1970s and before.

And that automation took the good jobs, not the minimum wage jobs. It was the beginning of the decline of the middle class.

There are pros and cons to raising the minimum wage. But those types of jobs like McDonald’s and Walmart we never meant to be careers. The problem is the government is promoting those jobs so that’s an issue. That’s why I’ve always said we need to bring back the union jobs in a different capacity through the private sector. It’s just like I said Henry Ford was a rich billionaire man who created millions of jobs. Through the private sector. He once hated unions but went on to work with them.

You’re making great points and I pretty much agree with you. So the thing is if we allow this to keep on happening we won’t have a country anymore. There’s gonna be millions of Americans who become homeless.

That sounds great. But it is also more philanthropic than it is a solid business model.

To start a business take capital and a LOT of effort. To do that in order to create good jobs for people with no skills is nearly impossible. The point of a business is profit, first and foremost.

If i create a business and invest my money to make it work, it is up to me to keep that business profitable or else it goes kaput. If my business gets bigger, then i have to hire employees to help the growth of the business, while they have not sacrificed their money or time in making the business grow. But in the growth of the business, stock is now used to borrow money and provide the necessary means to keep the growth working. If the employees want to participate in that growth, they can buy into the stock. Many people dont want to take the risk in investing, if you dont take the risk, you dont get the rewards. I do not feel sympathy to those who wont learn.

A while back about 10 years ago, i talk to a McDonalds employee who was a black woman and asked her if she invested in McDonalds stock. She told me no. At the time McD stock was 99 dollars a share.....

And eventually even those companies will be screwed because if this process keeps up not enough people will be able to afford the products that those companies use robots to put out.

That is the whole plan of the Marxists...Make everyone a slave of the government, then go full Communist and then everyone will work at the point of a gun. Always happens with Socialists/Marxists.

When a manufacturing business automates, after the initial outlay of capital to install it, profits increase. Liabilities decrease. That will make Wall Street and big business happy.

I’m doing pretty good for myself brother. Could be better could be worse I suppose but all in all it’s OK …

But I’m concerned about fellow Americans losing their jobs which is an ugly site it’s against American values. That’s what the communists and fascists would want…. They love when robots take over jobs for Americans.

If we don’t stand up for the American past and bring back the good parts of the American past our country is totally screwed.

sight?

Henry Ford worked with unions because he had to work with unions. Automation was not at a sufficiently sophisticated level to replace all the workers.

Do you notice sometimes at McDonald’s that people are miserable. When it gets busy there everyone uses the kiosk to order the food and then they’re waiting in line miserable and angry. We don’t need McDonald’s anymore in this country they don’t really do anything good other than put out unhealthy food. Maybe they should change the menu

To your point about stock investing. I think it’s a good idea for companies to offer up maybe a one percent match on the folks at the company want to invest in their own company. Something to consider.

Henry Ford worked with unions because he had to work with unions. Automation was not at a sufficiently sophisticated level to replace all the workers.
It was Henry’s wife and son who urged him to work with unions. It was an all-around great decision…. even back in those days they were some level of automation. Men and women of all colors and religions were working on the assembly lines working with machines making things happen. Those years were much better for our country for the rich class and the middle class.

And there were different pay rates based on race and gender.

Yes, there was some level of automation. But until you have enough automation to replace most of the assembly line workers, the unions can stop you.
