Australians could face up to 15 years imprisonment for comments deemed offensive by the government. The Combatting Antisemitism, Hate and Extremism Bill introduced this month establishes federal offenses for “publicly promoting or inciting hatred.” Speech, writing, or “other forms of public gestures” will be monitored and controlled.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the prop “I encourage you to read the Old Testament and see what’s there and see if you outlaw that, what would occur,” he said. “I encourage you to read the Old Testament and see what’s there and see if you outlaw that, what would occur,” he said. “So we need to be careful — we consulted with faith groups, not just with the Jewish community. We want to make sure there’s the broadest possible support for this legislation but we also want to make sure that there isn’t unintended consequences of the legislation.”

“Unintended consequences” come down to losing voters, but for citizens, their freedom is at risk at every turn. The Old Testament example is quite interesting as that would chalk up Judaism and Christianity to “hate speech” for questioning the LGBTQ community.

First they came for their Guns, now they've come for free speech......

This was made for the covid era, but it still fits

they are now "free" to keep their big fat yappers shut.
Have they got undercover speech enforcers?

I bet they wished they had not turned in all their guns.

It's enough to make you weep.

Make no mistake about it.....That's what the vile dems want here.

15 year for mean talk, meanwhile you can knife to death 4 people and get 10
the UK clearly rubbed off on them due to their history

New 'rules' in Australia for the wise.

'Say nothing, you can't be done for hate speech'.

'Do nothing...stay home and don't join protest marches, you can't be arrested, injured or offend your employer.

Be 'invisible' in public.

Not happy? No worries, complain/lobby the journalists/commentators/politicians of your political persuasion and have them do the talking. They'll likely have lawyers guiding them [and enough money in case of mistakes].

People were sickened by the Port Arthur massacre and voluntarily took part in the gun buy back scheme.
It came after the Hoddle St massacre, and the Strathfield massacre.
One too many massacres.

The truth;

Neo-Nazi figure charged with threats to 'rhetorically rape' MP granted bail

#####

Me;

You can't be doing and saying all that today...without getting into BIG trouble.
He obviously hadn't been paying close enough attention.

At the time of the alleged threat to Ms Spender, Mr Davis was on bail from a South Australian court for allegedly displaying a Nazi symbol.
***

A report handed to Justice Natalie Adams said custody had given Mr Davis "time to reflect and examine his life and what is the best way to express one's views".

Mr De Brennan said the neo-Nazi would agree to not post on social media under his name or an alias if released on bail.

"His son being born has brought home to him why it is important not to breach his bail in any form," he said.

“To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize,”

I bet Australians are allowed to criticize Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Germans, Americans, Chinese, Brazilians and even Australians.

I bet Australians are NOT allowed to criticize Israeli Zionists.

There's still free speech...but, antisemitism and hatred directed at others are banned.
"Respect" is the new 'king'.

Wow, what was the point of her even showing up? Was she expecting or prepared to answer any question? It is a wonder she remembered and knew to even get dressed in the morning.

It's the far left/left Labor govt.
Some people say they don't know what they're doing.
They seem to love spending...it's "billions here, billions there...billions every bloody where, da da dada da dada da daaa!"

They're delivering a federal budget tomorrow night.
They're being accused of "redistributing the wealth"...and starting an 'intergenerational' 'war', rabbitting on about "intergenerational equity" [basically "intergenerational disadvantage"]...so called "boomers' getting the blame for everything.
Labor govt being accused of pitting children against their parents and grandparents, said parents and grandparents with homes, rental property investments and savings being blamed because Gen Z can't afford to buy homes/apartments or rent homes/apartments.

Someone needs to sit Gen Z etc down and explain things to them.

I like how they use alleged........that person said this.........arrest them, just like that
that means you are automatically on defense to defend yourself, not question the person
who accused you

thankfully that's not how the USA system works.......well generally but not 100%

It's all about "innocent until proven guilty in a court of law"...just like the US show "COPS" states.
In this case the cops and the DPP (Director of Public Prosecutions) believe they have enough evidence to gain a conviction, so they've charged the accused.
In general, just because people are accused, then charged, doesn't make them guilty.
Sometimes accusers don't tell the truth, have ulterior motives.
Sometimes eyewitnesses honestly believe what they saw is correct, but "misidentification" is a thing.

It's a good system.
