In this case the cops and the DPP (Director of Public Prosecutions) believe they have enough evidence to gain a conviction, so they've charged the accused.
In general, just because people are accused, then charged, doesn't make them guilty.
Sometimes accusers don't tell the truth, have ulterior motives.
Sometimes eyewitnesses honestly believe what they saw is correct, but "misidentification" is a thing.
It's a good system.
one person states I think they said that, one more says yes.......you are guilty for saying a word
