if workers are replaced by robots you seem to assume the robots will buy the products they produce....this is incorrect....robots buy nothing so industry collapses with no market for their products cause humans earn no wages to pay for all that shit at wal mart
except prices never come down...neverWhen prices come down due to the automation, the people will overlook the loss of jobs. To them, those are just numbers. Whereas their ability to have what they want and need is real.
if robots can be taught to lie they can replace democratsExactly. Another part of the equation that will lead us to socialism. There will have to be some sort of income for the millions of displaced workers.
But you can't shoot the employee for failing to include your ketchup.I have been to a few fast food places, when I worked on the road, that had kiosk ordering instead of people. I liked it. It was more convenient, more accurate, and the food was the same.
except prices never come down...never
Actually I have the paperwork stating they don’t want me.you're ready for the nut-house!
To paraphrase it… The patient’s documented pattern of aggressive, violent, and destructive behaviors are carried out exclusively against inanimate objects. Patient goes out of the way to avoid injury to people and animals around him during these outbursts..ok, and what reason do they list? just curious DM me if necessary, or just stay silent. i'll respect that too of course
"Let them eat cake"Do nothing and wait for the revolution as the people are starving.
wow, that's exactly what i do too.. kung fu training only..To paraphrase it… The patient’s documented pattern of aggressive, violent, and destructive behaviors are carried out exclusively against inanimate objects. Patient goes out of the way to avoid injury to people and animals around him during these outbursts..
We suggest continued long-term therapy to minimize stress and anxiety issues and deal with low-level ptsd
I have extensive self-defer training in both martial arts and weapons. My “anger management“ issues typically focus on work or sports so thankfully I’m not in a situation to take it out on people.wow, that's exactly what i do too.. kung fu training only..
Again, my issues are typically in a private setting, but there are public places I avoid (bars, clubs, etc…) for good reasons.oh no, wait, i also shout at annoying groups of tourists in large public squares these days..
and i issue random threats that i later fully retract, even towards psychiatric staff..
but that still doesn't legitimize a month of lockup over an event like that
You folks in Europe have allowed Your government and society far too much latitude to make decisions for you. That’s the biggest problem.and maybe my Netherlands is just a far more psychiatricly strict country.
we are situated in guns-free Europe after all

Artificial intelligence could replace humans in four key industries and leave billions without jobs, expert reveals
ARTIFICIAL intelligence could one day replace human workers in four major industries, experts have claimed.
In a new opinion piece for CNN, Peter Bergen says that for a while experts have speculated AI will replace humans in fields such as customer service, insurance underwriting, and manufacturing.

But now, Bergen has expressed concern that AI may also overtake writers.
“For the past several days, I have been hearing about the AI chatbot ChatGPT,” Bergen writes.
“Users of the tool claim to be able to write coherent essays and op-eds in seconds.”
“So, I signed up to give it a try and asked it to perform a task that I had hitherto believed required at least some level of skill. I asked ChatGPT to ‘Write an op-ed in the style of Peter Bergen.'”
The journalist shared the AI-generated opinion piece and argued that while it was impressive, it did contain some factual errors.
Bergen attributed the mistakes to the fact that ChatGPT was created in 2021 and may not have knowledge of current events.
He then asked the AI-powered tool a historical question about the role of women in the French Revolution.
The answer, Bergen said, was not exactly like the work of leading historians but did “suggest a future in which college students will likely be able to submit long and complicated papers that are entirely generated by AI.”
“And then what does it mean to be educated at a liberal arts college? And why go to all the bother and expense?” Bergen asked.
He continued: “So, I head into 2023 with a sobering realization. My career as a CNN op-ed writer, which began in earnest over a decade ago, may not exactly be over yet since AI-generated op-eds make factual errors – just as humans do, though those are typically caught during the fact-checking process.”
“Yet my writing career could still go the way of the grocery checkout jobs eliminated by automation.”
He noted that Al tools will keep getting smarter, and telling apart AI-written op-eds from ‘real’ human ones will also get harder over time.
“As a writer and professor, that makes for a dystopian future. (I promise this sentiment was not generated by AI),” Bergen concluded.
What is ChatGPT?
In technical terms, ChatGPT is a language model that can produce text.
It’s based on the GPT 3.5 model created by San Francisco-based AI research lab Open AI.
The mind-blowing app can talk to you like a human, write poems, give you baking advice, solve complicated puzzles and so much more.

while i fully support tech like ChatGPT receiving more development time, i also think that in the future, the government and the employers and the public at large will have to decide which type of body can perform which type of jobs in any given society.
You guys are nuts.
You guys are nuts.
First of all automation does not equate with intelligence. "AI" is a pipe dream so far. As close as they've come is replacing a part of the brain with a computer, so like, prosthetics.
A sophisticated database doesn't equate with intelligence either.
Do y'all know how a brain actually works? It's very interesting. If you'd like a sense for how far away automation is from actual intelligence, study the process of memory consolidation in humans.
In humans, there is "working memory" which is very fast, and "short term memory" which is related to the organization of (experiential) episodes, and "long term memory" which may last a lifetime (hopefully). The way things get from short term to long term is very, very sophisticated. The same brain area that handles working memory, learns to play and replay the short term episodes, backwards and forwards. They are "reconstructed", actively, not "merely" stored.
They're going to need human beings to build and fix the computers, for a very long time.
now maybe 'yes'. 50 years into the future? possibly not. 100 or 150? proably not!
without consumers, capitalism is dead.
without workers, consumers can't be fed.
with automation, workers can do their jobs with much more ease.
and that is needed by now.
we can't stay stuck in the 1980s.
I am a supporter of capitalism and not a supporter of socialism. That said, if technology advances enough so that AI supplies our needs and resources are no longer limited, then socialism may be the way to go. Kind of like in Star Trek TNG; if all we have to do is speak to a food or product replicator and poof there it is..... then socialism might not be so bad. Hopefully millions/billions of people will not have to be put down because socialism doesn't provide people their needs and wants.Exactly. Another part of the equation that will lead us to socialism. There will have to be some sort of income for the millions of displaced workers.
