Article about the Start of the Revolutionary War: Notice Something?

You don’t understand history
Our founders mistrusted the common man

There was no “middle class”
They didn't mistrust the common man. But they did understand that democracy, or the democratic rule that majority wins, historically did not work. The founding fathers did not want a new nation that lived by "Mob Rules" mentality and electing demigods. That is why our country is shaped the way it is, with representation, electoral college, senate and congress, along with checks and balances. The founding fathers saw the "common man's" majority participation in politics to be at the local and state level.

And, yes, there was a middle class. And what we can learn from the wealth of the founding fathers, is many of them WORKED for it. They were educated, ambitious, entrepreneurs, that understood the value in being a productive citizen. Along with that a few founding fathers, didn't fair too well either in finances and struggled or flopped all together after the union.

Let's not paint with such broad brushes and generalities.

There was no “middle class”
They mistrusted the "mob" meaning the uneducated. You know, the same people who vote for democrats today. That's why the franchise was limited to property owners at the time.

First, this could go in the Media Forum, but this is also somewhat 2A related. I want to point out, whether intentional or not, the specific use of words that are used and not used when describing why the Brits were coming to America and what they were looking for.

IMO, this is a perfect example of the media, controlling narratives, and shying away from actually telling the whole truth.

Can you find what is "Missing" from the context of the article?
The British were already in America, called colonies.

Most of these British in America never fired a gun, let alone owned one. As tensions grew between the colonies and the government, they started smuggling guns in to fight for independence. This is why some Americans are confused about the war, they think it was about trying to take the colonies guns.

Over the years on American forums, I've noticed that your History education in schools is utter shit.

I only do links when I'm trying to prove a point.

I have a degree in history, so I don't need to pretend.

Now, yes, Lincoln did take action against Native Americans who were dumb enough to align with the Confederacy. That's war, baby.
True world history or American's version?

Wrong. Most of the Colonies were wilderness. Only a small percentage of colonists lived in the cities, most were farmers or lived in villages or small towns. North America was occupied by hostile natives so anyone outside a large town or city was armed at least with one musket, often a family had multiple muskets, a rifle or two and at least one shotgun for small game and birds plus pistols and edged weapons. At the time of the revolution, most of Manhattan Island was wilderness and Long Island only had a few villages on it. The USA was never the tame place the UK was.
