to know-nothings on the net, go to the twice annual Machinegun shoot in Knob Creek, KY (google it). You'll see all sorts of abuse, 1000's of rds without cleaning, debris, etc, given to AR's, with them working just fine. It's a GREAT design. I once watched a guy fire 3000 rds of 55 gr softpoint reloads thru a shorty AR, doing nothing but squirt some WD40 into it, every 500 rds or so. That's quite a replicable feat, any knowledgable AR owner will tell you the same thing.

The one I had in the Army jammed up a lot...
