If they took that report as trustworthy and accurate, and they had not issued a warrant for Deif. How would the ICC defend itself against an accusation like "Look, they issue warrants for two Israelis but not Hamas' Deif, someone who could still be alive and protected by Hamas, someone who's death has only anecdotal support from Hamas itself!".

Maybe there were moves afoot to plan to fake Deif's death so he can evade justice, that's the kind of dastardly scheming the Arabs are quite good at.

Very interesting, this is a good example of how the press uses language to try and manipulate our thoughts.

Note how the reporter at about 0:40 says "well this is a very very significant escalation..." which I picked up on right away because I've been doing this kind of analysis for decades.

He's been indoctrinated to such an extent that he cannot just state the facts but has to insert an interpretation of those facts, one that frames things as perceived by the US.

Rather than say "decision" or "development" he has to say "escalation" implying that the ICC is in some kind of combat with the US but that's not the case, it is the US that has taken a combative stance to the ICC, the ICC couldn't care less what the US thinks because the US already chose to not be a part of the ICC, it has no voice, it is utterly irrelevant.

I don't understand why you're confused? If the family of an alleged bank robber issued a public claim via a newspaper that they believe he's dead and therefore seeking to arrest him serves no purpose, do you think the Police would just say "Ahh OK, right, we'll stop looking for him".
