Before anyone loses their mind, I get that a resolution does not carry the weight of a law. The whole thing is a gesture and a statement. But what kind of statement? We don't care what the voters say?
 
If it isn't a real law there's no point in getting upset about it.

There is no point in doing it, so why did they? What is their benefit to spit on their citizen's and Democracys's face?
