Canada couldn't continue to be the #1 country in the world on 'quality of life' is it wasn't for rational and moderate political beliefs of it's citizens.
For that reason, the political beliefs and ideology has to come first in order to make my country worthy of my caring and supporting.

I cant imagine wanting my country or countrymen to fail. But we are a small nation and generally have to seek compensation in results other than an outright victory.

Yes, I am aware that Britain has separate soccer teams (as well as in some other sports) and technically Scotland and England are two separate entities in these competitions.

No. You misunderstand the situation. It is perfectly normal for the Scots to support Englands opponents and vice versa. It is unnatural for Scots to support Scotlands opponents.
