If they accept figures for the ages of holy texts which come by way of radiometric dating methods like c-14 (carbon) dating for holy texts, shroud of Turin, etc., why do they then reject ages which clearly and irrefutably destroy models of a 6,000 year old Earth? While age of the Earth doesn't use carbon dating (usefulness maxxes out around 60,000 years) other methods are used for billions of years.

They do not accept the carbon dating for the shroud of Turin!!

The C-dating for the shroud was dated around the 12th or 13th century

My 8th grade Health class teacher was a member of the Flat Earth Society. :) Thought he was kidding, but he was very serious about it. It's kinda like the Young Earther people. :)

OP, I've asked you this before, but how do the "young earthers" come to this conclusion?

Its just a literal take on Genesis and some simple math(plus a few assumption)

However, there are not that many young earthers when you compare them to scientist with strong religious conventions as a whole. They are lot more vocal than their numbers would suggest.
