The timeline to which Sessions admitted today:
1) Trump begins publicly whining about Comey's Russian investigation.
2) Trump directs the Attorney General and the Assistant Attorney General to give him a reason to fire Comey. This request is kept from the public.
3) Rosenstein and Sessions write letters criticizing Comey's performance as FBI director, citing shit from way back in the campaign. Neither Sessions nor Rosenstein have ever spoken to Comey about this supposed bad performance before firing him.
4) Comey is fired. Trump doesn't even have the courage to fire him personally.
5) The letters written by Rosenstein and Sessions are released to the public by Trump, without telling the public the letters were written on Trump's orders.
6) Trump invites the Russians into the White House to celebrate Comey's firing with them.
7) The public does not buy the lie give that Trump fired Comey on the recommendation of Sessions and Rosenstein. The idiot plan backfires and blows up in Trump's face.
8) Trump admits in an interview the real reason he fired Comey is because of the Russian investigation.
In his testimony, Sessions expects us all to bleev he did not know he was being asked to write a letter as cover for the Russian thing. He is deliberately stonewalling.
Sure, he's lying about what he knew about Comey's firing, but I don't think that's much of an issue. He's denying that he had a third meeting with the ruskie ambassador. I don't know what evidence there is as to whether it occurred.
I do not believe for one second Jeff Sessions plotted with the Russians in their attacks on our electoral system. I find that virtually impossible to believe.
I do find it convenient to Trump that Sessions, who is the man who is supposed to prosecute any criminals who participated in those attacks, has been sidelined.
As for the reasons Sessions gave for writing his letter, no one with more than two brain cells will buy that bullshit. If Sessions and Rosenstein had had problems with what Comey had done regarding the Clinton investigation TEN MONTHS PRIOR, they would have fired him on day one of the Trump Administration. They would have fired him at the earliest possible opportunity.
It's plain to everyone Comey was fired because he would not cave on the Russian investigation.
No, they wrote those letters at that late date because Trump wanted the Russian investigation stopped immediately, and they were ordered to write those letters by Trump.
