The arrest of Mayor Baraka was political in the first place. He was asked to leave and left. Law enforcement did an excellent job deescalating. Only he left, the Trump administration ordered law enforcement to arrest him for trespassing outside of the jail he was supposedly trespassing on.

The political aspect of the prosecutions was holding them for years without trial, as Lang was, keeping them in the DC jail without bail, searching people's banking records for purchases of firearms prior to going to DC, etc. Not to mention prosecuting a holocaust survivor for briefly entering the Capitol after doing nothing about Democrats attacking a federal court and trying to burn it down while trapping Federal marshalls inside.

It's not that the Jan 6 rioters did not commit crimes. It is that they were prosecuted more for being Trump supporters than for the "mostly peaceful" protest.

Jake Lang would have gotten his trial long ago if he hadn’t kept filing useless motions, changing his lawyers, asking for deferrals on trial while he waited decisions in cases of other rioters.

Keeping violent offenders in jail before trial without bail is not unusual. Remember, this guy took baseball bat to officers. A metal baseball bat. He showed no remorse.

There’s nothing political about that.

You’re getting confused about right wing criminals. The holocaust survivor was trying to be a human barrier to prevent people from getting into an abortion clinic. They said her prosecution was political too despite it clearly being a crime and her clearly knowing it was a crime.

In 2022, the top 1% of taxpayers paid 40.4% of all federal income taxes, while the bottom 50% paid only 3%.
