Apart from the topic, refraining from using the power of the state to punish political opponents, they need to dump identity politics and get back to equal rights, instead of "equity". They need to drop the "freak of the week" approach to civil rights and worry more about real persecution. They need to deregulate health care, and health insurance, so that the market can actually function. And, more than anything, they need to drop their "we know better" attitude toward pretty much everything.
