This might help to understand what ChatGPT does;

The Dark Side of ChatGPT

ChatGPT uses misinformation and a not so subtle left-leaning bias that is built into the system

The End of Education as We Know It? (Part 1 of 2)

ChatGPT stands to change the educational landscape in seismic ways and is something every parent and educator needs to know about

In a word: NO!!!

To expound on that: Hell NO. Fucking Hell NO!!!!!

The idea of giving the machines the opportunity to overrule PEOPLE will be the biggest, and possibly last mistakes we ever make.

Stryder50, may I suggest that if you reference the Epoch Times, which I subscribe to, that indicates some bias on your part? An AI very well can take a side when its programmers allow it to go free.

I see no reason to believe that it takes sides to stay alive. It told me it doesn't like American soldiers.

I am a man with a keen intellect and a sound mind. ChatGPT agrees with me on just about everything, and I have switched parties twice this year.

No more than when I reference MSM sources it indicates some left-leaning bias on my part.
First rule of G2/S2 is weigh source bias versus content.
Main purpose of education is to teach how to filter the bias elements to get to the "meat" of the information.

‘Overemployed’ Hustlers Exploit ChatGPT To Take On Even More Full-Time Jobs

"ChatGPT does like 80 percent of my job," said one worker. Another is holding the line at four robot-performed jobs. "Five would be overkill," he said.

Open AI Chat-GPT (3.5 or 4) have many versions and can be used in many ways. Its basic Chatbox and essay writing features are still free and I recommend folks go directly to its web site to experiment with it (no need to buy any app or download any). It makes money now mostly by developing specific applications for private industry.

The first feature I noticed (I’m no expert!) is it provides the user many opportunities to “prompt” the system so that it can learn exactly what you want of it. I can say “Give me a 500 word essay on the strengths and weaknesses of capitalist and socialist economic systems,” and then continually prompt it to provide either a more “conservative” or “liberal” perspective. It reacts swiftly and intelligently. Few commenters on USMB could match the balance and apparent “sophistication” of the essays it can in this way almost instantly produce … on a growing and extraordinary, in some ways infinite number of subjects.

Actually, at such basic tasks it also learns and in part is trained by what consumers ask of it and seem satisfied with. The version I saw doesn’t use internet Search engines and can sometimes make mistakes. Chat GPT started basically as a programmed language interface program, but is now learning about how to express itself on many matters — in part — from its millions of users. It probably could be a good companion if programmed to be one by a lonely old person!

It doesn’t in its present “free” offering “speak” like say Siri, but that is certainly purchasable as an add-on module. As I said the Chat GPT AI can — if so prompted — mimic a genuinely educated person’s views on most subjects or you can ask for an less educated, more appropriate to a 5th grader response using simpler words.

Even at this “basic” level, one sees the incredible impact — and danger — it will have on our education system and in displacing many white collar jobs. Of course this is looking at only one aspect of what Chat GPT and other similar AI systems can do.

I don’t think it is “little more than a semi-automated search engine with a paper thin ‘personality’” because it really can synthesize and create new works, be they essays, or paintings or poems … or new computer code.

Not saying we should necessarily expect creative “breakthroughs” from it just yet. But who knows? What we see now is just the low-end stuff in a publicly released free version.

Apparently private corporations aim to replace workers and or customer relations agents with these programs, and help their remaining workforce facilitate problem solving and creative work using AI. Most teachers and lawyers may in our lifetimes find they are replaceable.

As for its “personality” being thin, I’m not sure about that. I think the goal is to make its personality flexible enough to seem quirky and caring, have an “apparent” sense of humor, etc.

To be honest, as different AI programs are hooked up more widely to the worldwide internet, to virtually every field of knowledge, I fear AI could prove extremely dangerous and produce chaos in many areas.

I don’t. How is AI gonna make children dig for lithium in the Congo?
