Are Republicans really against clean air and clean water? Is there ever too much "dirty"?

After WW2 and the post WW2 years a series of democrat administration left us with everything from the Love Canal chemical slurry to unexploded ordinance to nuclear fallout on the continental U.S. Republicans and conservation clubs including members of the NRA and Ducks Unlimited and corporations that manufactured sporting goods lobbied to clean up waterways and establish rational hunting regulations to preserve endangered species while democrats were selling tickets to nuclear tests.

Regardless of what happened 80 years ago, Republicans are the ones fighting for dirty air and dirty water. Not the Democrats.

I think I've identified your problem. You think somebody is fighting for dirty air and water. No wonder you're so wrong.

When the EPA writes regulations, it's based on study and data. We only want to allow this much parts per million in drinking water or air. Otherwise children could start getting poisoned or cancer.

Republicans say let's repeal regulations protecting clean air and clean water. To what? What does their research say? Just get rid of regulations willy nilly? Because it's good for business?

And the media NEVER, EVER questions them. Even what they call "fake" news.

If their entire reasoning is because it's good for business, then is that good for the country?

Then why is "secret" science so rife within the EPA. Why are regulations being written based on science that is not out there for public examination. If they are worried that if the science and studies were out in the public that someone might find something wrong with them, then of what value, exactly is their science?

If actual science supports the regulations then the regulations are justified...if the science can't hold up, then the regulations are just for the sake of regulations...

Throw all that out the window

“Today is the greatest day of deregulation our nation has seen. We are driving a dagger straight into the heart of the ENVIRONMENT to drive down costs” said EPA Administrator Zeldin.

Lee Zeldin, the E.P.A. administrator, said the agency's mission was to make it cheaper to buy cars, heat homes and run businesses. No it’s not.

These historic actions will roll back trillions in regulatory costs on Corporations. It will be more affordable to make a car, provide customers with heat and operate a business. It will be more affordable FOR COMPANIES to manufacture.

Today, EPA Administrator Zeldin announced the following actions:

  • Deregulate power plants
  • Deregulate the oil and gas industry
  • Deregulate Mercury and Air Toxics that targeted coal power plants
  • Deregulate Greenhouse Gas emissions
  • Deregulate the Steam Electric Power Generating Industry to ensure low-cost electricity while NOT protecting water resources
  • Deregulate wastewater regulations for coal power plants
  • Deregulate America’s oil and natural gas refineries and chemical facilities

There's a big difference between deregulate and reduce regulations. No one is doing away with all regulations on anything.

We are doomed!

EPA Launches Biggest Deregulatory Action in U.S. History

Administrator Zeldin Announces 31 Historic Actions to Power the Great American Comeback

All this means you live 2.5 years less.

  • Reconsideration of regulations on power plants (Clean Power Plan 2.0)
  • Reconsideration of regulations throttling the oil and gas industry (OOOO b/c)
  • Reconsideration of Mercury and Air Toxics Standards that improperly targeted coal-fired power plants (MATS)
  • Reconsideration of mandatory Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program that imposed significant costs on the American energy supply (GHG Reporting Program)
  • Reconsideration of limitations, guidelines and standards (ELG) for the Steam Electric Power Generating Industry to ensure low-cost electricity while protecting water resources (Steam Electric ELG)
  • Reconsideration of wastewater regulations for oil and gas development to help unleash American energy (Oil and Gas ELG)
  • Reconsideration of Biden-Harris Administration Risk Management Program rule that made America’s oil and natural gas refineries and chemical facilities less safe (Risk Management Program Rule)

So, it sounds like you are unable to differentiate between "Reconsideration" and "Deregulation". Here's a clue:

"Reconsideration" means they look at the existing regulations, and if they are causing more trouble than they're worth, they get dropped. I hope that helps.

They are going to eliminate many, many important regulations. Reconsideration is a term for us to bicker over dumbo.

Be sure to let us know which important regulations they eliminate. You know, for discussion's sake. Since there's going to be many, many of them, you shouldn't have a hard time.

The EPA is facing a push for deregulation that includes potentially weakening standards for soot pollution, a move that could have serious health and environmental consequences

I’m mid 50s. I’d like to live a healthier life and live 2.5 years longer.

Or do it your way. Then go meet this god guy who’s visited you

You are worrying about events beyond your control. But even worse you have no idea of how to protect your wealth when the dollar gets debauched. You probably haven’t even ever considered it.

Yea, I don’t move it. I just buy more when it goes low.

I’m not talking about moving it. I’m talking about what happens when the dollar gets debauched.

I would take the AGW people a little more seriously if they directed their efforts toward China
