if obama had failed to carry either of those states romney could have won. add ohio, penn, and fla and it could have been a landslide for romney. so my point is valid. a small number of states decide the elections. the EC is supposed to prevent that, but it doesn't.

So if GW Bush had not won Florida in 2000, or had not won Ohio in 2004, he would have lost those elections.
