How many times have we heard Democrats/Progressives warn blacks that evil GOP was going to take food from their table?

Where in any of the above does the concept that if Democrats/Progressives are keeping blacks feed, housed, given money does that not appear
to be how a slave lives? After all slaveowners Feed/housed/provided health, and gave some money! The slaves just weren't free to vote!

Out of wedlock births have increased in White folks, too, over the last 50 years, and it's had nothing to do with "socialism".

Really Peach? Dems think your goal is to defund Public schools for everyone so that federal money for public schools withers on the vine....and that the only reason republicans support vouchers is because THEY want to use the federal money to put their own children in to Private Schools.

To think that the republicans support vouchers to get black children and the impoverished out of poor performing schools because of their concern for these children, is unbelievable....the support comes because they want their own constituents to get federal money to put their own children in Christian schools....

I hope nobody tells her the "Free Phone" program was started under Reagan.

Here's the thing-

1) Most blacks are gainfully employed.
2) There are more white people on welfare than black people, even if you don't count the "acceptable" forms of Middle CLass entitlements like unemployment and Social Security. (I always love when people who collect unemployment complain about "them welfare people".)

So the notion that Democrats have "bought" the black vote with welfare is kind of silly.

No, here was the real problem. In 1956, Dwight Eisenhower (you know, a sane Republican) got 36% of the black vote and Richard Nixon got 30% in 1960.

Then Barry "Deep Down You Know He's Nuts" Goldwater came out against the Civil Rights act and sucked up to the bigots in the South. He got blown out, losing 44 states, but no one said, 'Hey, that was a horrible idea". He only got 6% of the African American vote.

Instead, Nixon decided to keep playing on white fear (and after all the riots in the 1960's, white people were scared) and won, but he only got 10% of the black vote. In 1972, he got 17% of the black vote, in a 49-state blowout of a weak opponent.

But by 1980, Ronald Reagan was making a full out pitch for racism, and he got 14% of the black vote. In 1984, he got 9% of the black vote. And that was the high point until George W. Bush got 11% in 2004.

The problem isn't that the Democrats own blacks, it's that republicans have largely written them off and have made outright appeals to racism to win white votes (Willie Horton, Birtherism, etc.)
