Unfortunately, in a house of worship ( church, temple, synagogue, mosque, whatever )...

You are cramming the pews or rugs to the rafters with worshipers packed-in like sardines and touching and breathing on each other and sharing communal items, etc.

In a grocery store or weed--dispensary or other retail establishment you can enforce social distancing...

In a house of worship, for the most part, you cannot...

And, if you cannot enforce social distancing in an establishment - church or no - during a deadly pandemic, then that establishment endangers public health...

And, if an establishment endangers public health, then it must remain closed, until the pandemic danger has passed.

Q.E.D.

Dude... what?

It would be orders of magnitude easier to enforce "social distancing" in a church than in a retail store. Honestly, what the hell are you talking about?

Dude's post makes no fucking sense at all.

Churches have ushers for fucks sake. "You sit here, you sit there, you sit over there..." etc. And once seated, the attendees DON'T MOVE. A retail environment is a goddamn free-for-all.

It boggles the mind that people can be this dense....

You have it backwards.

A retail store can limit the No. of patrons allowed inside at any given time.

A retail store can ensure that patrons stand six feet apart while waiting in the check-out line.

A retail store will not ask its patrons to shake hands or eat from a communal wafer-basket or drink from a communal wine chalice or stand shoulder-to-shoulder.

Besides... in the short-term... in the interim until the pandemic passes... you don't need a church or priest to pray to God... just lift your heart and mind to The Lord, right?

Houses of worship are highly desirable and ordinarily protected by strong Constitutional mechanisms, but they are simply non-essential structures during a deadly pandemic.

A retail store, selling bread and butter and milk, etc., is essential for day-to-day functioning.

A church is nice-to-have, and a comfort to many, but it is non-essential, from the vantage point of simple physical survival.

A church congregation during a deadly pandemic is an unnecessary risk to the community at large and should remain shuttered until the danger has passed.

Communion is and always been OPTIONAL. It is not required for attendees. I'm beginning to think you've never actually attended a church service in your life.

And just who the fuck are you to make these determinations?

The Constitution is not void because of a virus. Period.

This is going to tick off far right conservative extremists. Not that they ever would attend a church but trump ordered all churches open so the far right radical conservatives will fight to the death to force churches to open even though it's not safe.

Go ahead far right radical extremists, throw your hissy fits. Call Newsome names.

Guess what? That still won't open any church in California.

You people don't have any right to spread this virus to as many people as you possibly can.

That's your problem...you live to anger your enemy because you can't beat him.....but listen...we aren't mad that we can't go to church but we are wiser at just how tyrannical your party has become.....so thanks for that....
