I'd say Black Lives Matter has insured not too many saw it. To be honest, I didn't know the Raptors were in the playoffs.
Yeah, they also won the championship last year lol.
They swept Broolyn in the first round, they are in tough against the Celtics, down 2-1 now. Would have been 3-0 if not for the miracle shot. It could become a series now, who knows?
For the life of me I don't understand why the Raptors didn't do whatever was necessary to hold on to Kawhi Leonard. Did he demand a trade?
Taxes..
Seems doubtful. The taxes and cost of living in LA are WAY more than they would have been in Toronto.
In which countries do high earners pay the most tax? And where do average earners pay the most?

I know California is far left and full blown socialist but Justin Trudeau is a straight up thief.
My Canadian uncle pays around 60% tax for his 250k salary. I could only imagine the tax for an NBA player making 8 figures.
I'm willing to bet that your uncle is a Trump supporter who lies a lot.
If you make
$250,000 a year living in the region of Ontario,
Canada, you
will be taxed $99,944. That means that your net
pay will be $150,056 per
year, or $12,505 per month. Your average tax rate is 39.98% and your marginal tax rate is 52.95%.
You can also hide your income in multiple ways, though it won't help athletes too much (though they are paid in U.S dollars) It used to be income splitting, which my wife and I used quite well when I snuck in a job under the noses of the creepy, covert Canadians and Harper was in power. We both would receive income tax back and I worked at a bank at the time making more than average, though not excessively more.
We also have RRSP contributions, which I believe shelters upwards of $25k a year if you have the cash. That is deducted from your year end income. $6k a year or so for TFSA. Both of these instruments force people to save, primarily because Canadas pension plan is in trouble, no matter what they tell us. Right off the top, someone in the top tax bracket can cut their tax obligations by $31k.
Also,
a gross number of Canadians are in the "gig" economy (I call it gimmick), or part-time, contract, "I'm-never-going-to-retire-and-don't-have-a-company-pension=plan" bracket. We are broke in ways few understand. It's why we lose our top talent who go to other nations, help them with science, innovation, build A.I weapons that will eventually be used against us, you know, that sort of stuff.
You also have other ways to shelter of course. Canada is known for sheltering money overseas and not being chased down even if they owe CRA millions (but if you owe them $500 as I did once or twice, look out, they hunt you down). I was audited three years in a row when I had a real job, and was also audited recently just to stick the knife and twist, as these most honourable are apt to do.
In my estimation, without question you will keep more of your money in the U.S, and, it goes further. ($14k more PPP in USA) We don't even talk about PST+GST, which is I think 13% now on items in Ontario. Used to be 15%. That's on basically
everything you purchase, only 8% if it's a service. It's just a racket to fill the pockets of poor managers, the kakistocracy and their low performing Offspring.
Also we have forced insurance. Homes, cars, boats. A very uncompetitive free market, so you overpay for everything. From cable, phone to financial services and the above states insurance.
If you have talent stay in America. If you have a special job waiting for you, move to Canada. If you are a low performer and want government to keep you mediocre (or persona non grata) in return for being owned by the state, spying on your kids, family, in your workplace, at HR, management, your nosey, neighbours. Than, Canada is for you.
If you like individual liberty, Right to Self Determination, reaching your potential and government out of your business (in most states), where Free Markets decide your salary and the downward pressure on costs,
stay in America.
I'm sitting with an award from my graduating Class for top of class marks. A nomination for an award at a major corporation for a geographic, was in my MBA, tireless and constantly pushing myself.
It means little in a low performing, creepy, centrally controlled system that allows exploitation of its most vulnerable. It's a predatory system that targets it's youth in particular.
If the creeps within the police apparatus put your name in a hat when you're a kid, criminal record or not, criminal history or not, strength of character or not, you're just another sacrifice for the bloated abusers. They take pleasure in this. Those of us destroyed, like citizens in the former East Germany watch with minor amusement as the rest of the world is indifferent to Canada. Our future economic health in particular, in grave danger.
Happy Sunday!
