CDZ Any Instances Of USMB Posts From Russian Farms?

Just curious with all in the news right now. I haven't been part of every thread, heck, sometimes I take a few months off here and there.

Do we have any confirmed or strongly suspected instances of posts from Russia here?

From my experience there was a fellow I think from four or so years ago I always wondered about. He knew tons about Eastern European cars and wouldn't give a rational inch on some issues. BUT, I have no idea why with his point of view Putin would want pay him. So maybe he was just THAT guy on the one issue or was paid by someone other than Russia to be that guy I suppose.

There are a few Russians on this forum, for example I'm a Russian from Eastern Ukraine. The reason I'm here is that Western Media keeps spreading a lot of lies about Ukraine, Russia and Russian President, painting Ukraine in white and Russia in black when it's actually vice versa. Every election the thought of trolls comes up. A database of new users prior to and to their absence after would be an interesting study. But you'd need to be careful on assuming they were Russian because 'dark money' in America buys support in a variety of ways. Today money manages lots of media sources and college studies. 'The Federalist' is just one example. In a real sense does it matter if the instigator (troll) is Russian or American or Martian, If the information fits a bias it works. Watch Fox and MSNBC on the same news item and you can only shake your head. Given the info in quote below is there any hope? Some are well hidden and some are very obvious. A few were notorious for using Russian sources like RT News and Sputnik News. The easiest way to spot them is by simply noting the posters that always post about things the Russian propaganda machine is pushing. They saturate the social media with their talking points and those talking points show up here. The Nazi coup in Ukraine is an example. Russians living in Ukraine is another one. There was no Nazi coup and ethnicity does not determine citizenship.
Remember and take note that the Russian propaganda machine does not just rely on their specialist to post fake news stories. Their main purpose is to "seed" the stories so that dupes and suckers will unwittingly repeat and spread those fake stories.

We have lots of bots here--I was told they just look for words and phrases that they can use in search engines like Google. Are bots able to do other things as well?

My personal Bot technology is pretty limited. You can post ads on Craig's List and other classified sites with them. With my skill level using them to respond to human posts on a message board would be quite humorous in a way.

Bots can skim news stories and more or less copy them for their own sites I understand and believe. Explains some of the randomness on poor news sources.

The best way to spot a bot is to ask them to reply to you by name. Most bots have reply counters and after so many will make another bland point.
