The knowledge of its use by the President is required, moron.First, understand that an auto pen is not a pen. It’s a table-top device programmed to replicate a person’s signature.
Presidents have used, and have been ABLE to use, auto pens for decades. Harry Truman use the first one in the 1940s. Many others have used auto pens because. frankly, as President, you have a LOT of shit to sign day-in and day-out. A LOT of busy people - executives, Senators, Congresspersons, celebrities, etc use auto pens to sign things. trump himself has used one, both as President and when not in office.
So, how do you keep a medium-sized piece of table-top equipment out of the wrong hands?
Lock the damn door! The Presidential auto pen is kept under lock-and-key. It is only used upon direct orders OF the President. It’s not just sitting on a random secretary’s desk somewhere in the White House steno pool, It’s locked up, and access is restricted to only those members of the White House staff the President himself has assigned to have that access.
