I have said this before and I mean it, I have received unusual visceral reactions from multiple people when I believe they looked at my cross and see the Star of David in the middle of it. I cannot prove it, but I am a good judge of personality and the change in tone after they looked at my neck was palpable. I have thought of the situation you raise and I admit, as much as I believe I am courageous and principled, I absolutely understand why someone would not openly wear identifiable Jewish symbolism. It is really sad, even angering, however, ones safety considerations must come first.

It might prove an impossible task for
Jewish people to re-integrate into wider society .
No group even likes another that openly believes it is superior .
Let alone when daily living supports an opposite view .

Whilst this individual’s action is unsupportable , it does oblige the Jewish community to examine themselves in depth and detail to determine their past contribution to the present overall situation .
And then find ways to apologise and ask forgiveness .
A huge but necessary Ask and for a hoped for genuine forgiving response .

I wouldn't want a "hate crime" charge because it would likely become a federal case. The trial would eventually get bogged down in the court system, thanks to liberal lawyers.

Just keep the trial in the state and he'd have far more chance of getting deaded.
