He got a year, automatically he gets half off for good time/work time credit. That leaves him with six months. He gets time served credit for the two months he's already served. That leaves him with four months.

Depending on whether he can get early release as a non-violent offender he could be out any day.

Well, he did violate federal parole not state parole so it is a federal and not state matter. But, what he got was less than a slap on the wrist. More like a flick.

I didnt know he was on parole. What was the violation?

We don't know. At one time it was that he used an alias, but he didn't do that. Then it was that he used the internet, but we don't know that the government proved that he did that either. I suspect that this was a deal and he plead guilty for a very light sentence and avoid a lengthy trial. The sentence was for a year, which would really have worked out to four months at maximum. But we have already had a Federal Judge order early release for non-violent offenders, so we don't know that this guy wasn't released immediately after sentencing.

This guy was a scumbag when George H. W. Bush was president, Bill Clinton was president, George W. Bush was president, and during Barack Obama's presidency. This criminal is a recidivist offender and he got punished according to the letter of the law.

When it first came out he was arrested I was suspicious, but further study of the Situation shows he was in pretty serious Violation of his Probation.

Now that said it's not uncommon for Probation officers to know someone is in Violation and not act. It is entirely possible nothing would had happened to him, with out the Video being made an international Scape Goat for Radical Islamic Intolerance and Violence.

the part where it appears he had been in Violation for some time, and action was only taken after the Video Story broke. Just looked fishy.

In the end his sentence is justified for the Violation at hand, but it was sure to raise questions with the timing.

P.O.s are busy people and, unfortunately, don't have the time to devote to checking everything their charges are doing. However, if you're going to be stupid enough to make yourself world-famous with your violation, that's a different story. It's not fishy, IMO; it's business as usual.
