I know that this is what everyone is repeating....and I held this as the first thought as well....
However, it's practically a new SCOTUS from the last time it was reviewed and only narrowly became protected speech when reviewed last time.

I'm strongly against flag burning as well. I can't see that holding up to your Constitution and it will experience a Constitutional challenge at some point.

I wouldn't burn N Korea or Irans flag, there are just some lines we shouldn't cross.

A flag is a representative of the government. You want to protest that government, you can do many things. Burning a flag is a symbolic attack.

It's also a constitutional right.

Within the rather lax rule on freedom of speech compared to other countries (like the UK and Germany, which have popped up recently), there's no way anyone would get away with this.

That Trump has made an executive order banning flag burning, shows just how little he cares about the US Constitution.

American flag burning is an automatic 1 year in jail, no parole, reprieve, or reduced sentencing. .
Federalization of DC
More troops in more cities.
No more cashless bail anymore anywhere....gonna be too expensive to continue the practice.
A whole bunch of orders today all focused on crime.

Trump knows he is limited in those orders .. he's brilliantly throwing balls outside the strike zone and laughing as Dems swing wildly ! how dare he make our cities safe ! how dare he condemns burning the flag ! how dare he try to stop releasing violent repeat offenders back onto the streets with no bail ! Trump knows how cant force states to comply .. he knows that cities like Chicago aren't federal Districts like DC .. what he's really doing is forcing Dems to defend their opposition to his proposals ! brilliant !

I don't like when people burn the American flag, but what is even more despicable is anti-freedom authoritarians who trample all over the Bill of Rights.

Why am I not surprised though that Donald "Take the guns first, go through due process second" Trump did that? He has shown time and time again that he doesn't understand liberty or the constitution.

As long as the flag being burned is someone's own property and not someone else's flag, of course it shouldn't be against the law in a supposedly free country. This isn't North Korea.

He's simply correcting a misunderstanding of the English language on the part of the SCOTUS.

Even a blindfolded ten year old knows that money is not speech. Speech is the stuff that comes out of your mouth, money is the stuff that comes out of your wallet.

Same for arson. It's not speech, it's lighting a dangerous fire in a public place. It threatens buildings and children. There is no constitutional protection for arson.

I mean, come on, BLM loots designer clothing stores during a riot 'cause they're pissed at "the man", and you're gonna call that free speech?
