Pool owners should be licensed, and have to prove safe, and proficient use of a pool; in order to own one.

Not a bad idea. Probably long overdue.

There are laws that cover that. Legally a pool is considered a natural draw for a child. And the owner is liable if it is not secured.

Plus, if you dont have a gate and the neighbors children came by and something happens, they could sue the shit out of you. Even if they were trespassing.

To some, that would be more important than the child's life. If that's what it takes, sue for every cent and more.

Same anyone who refuses to make their home and belongings safe while having children around.

Relax. It isn't Obama's or Trump's fault. It isn't a left / right issue. Parent's, for the love of God, please keep a watchful eye on your kids. In my previous marriage around 30 years ago, my ex's mom had an above ground pool in her back yard. On 2 different occasions, a small child somehow got past the gate, climbed on the deck, got into the pool and drowned. In both cases, they were found before they died, but they were basically vegetables afterwards and died a couple years later. I wouldn't let my kids stay with grandma until she got rid of that damned pool. Still pisses me off that 2 of my nephews are dead because of negligence.

There are a lot of dangers that we face in today’s world. Thugs, Muslim jihadists, natural disaster, texting drivers, etc. None, however, is more dangerous the the combination of 2 year old kids, and unfenced swimming pools, To say that it is common to hear about 2 year olds drowning in pools, would be an understatement.

2 year old kids are old enough to walk around, but typically, not yet old enough to be able to swim. That makes the swimming pool a huge danger to them. At least it’s a danger if the pool has no fence around it, or the kid’s guardian isn’t paying CLOSE attention.

Be advised parents/guardians. If you have a 2 year old, and a swimming pool (or you neighbor does), and it is unfenced, you are playing with dynamite.

I once pulled a 2-year old out from drowning.

I was in the pool with my son, and I saw this kid struggling greatly under water.

I pulled him out, and took him to his mom, who was sitting in the corner smoking and drinking.

I have no doubt that had I not done that, he would have drowned.

I hope he didn't grow up to be a serial killer!
