The consequences of the election of the more progressive candidate is a victory for democracy in other ways. Under their gerrymandering, Republicans have been able to control 63 of the Wisconsin State Assembly's 99 seats, despite having received only 44% of the vote. That'll change to reflect public sentiment.

Regardless, Wisconsin is pretty much a blue state.

Any fair election is a victory for 'democracy'. Sadly, the winner's policies aren't always good for the people.
