Zone1 An open apology to the young for the mistakes of my generation.

We will be known as the "Vacation Generation". I do not think that is a good thing.
I don't think that is true for the majority. My brother paid his way through college by working construction summer and holidays. I paid my way through college by working three jobs year-round and taking twice as long to graduate. By the time our youngest siblings were in college, many who wanted a college education were forced into ten-year pay-offs of student loans. We weren't being supported by our parents or living with them. We were out working, getting an education--often both.

Our conversations centered around why were corporations being allowed to buy up all the small news organization; why were our manufacturing jobs being shipped overseas, why were people from other countries being imported to work in our country at lower wages, and (of course) the current war. We thought same sex couples living together ought to be able have hospital visits and the like without having to have civil unions or make trusts and wills that opposite sex couples were entitled.

My advice to younger generations comes from a personal point of view because my body has never been able to tolerate alcohol or anything but aspirin when it came to drugs. I've worked with elderly, and some are on over a dozen prescription drugs which is an unbelievable financial drain. This is also true for younger people. I use (mild) natural remedies for everything--and only when needed. My siblings are on what I call the Pharmaceutical Bandwagon being taken for a ride. Don't get me wrong! Some people need pharmaceuticals and should/must be on them. Others (and it may be a very small minority) are better off with diet, exercise, and natural remedies. Those are personal decisions depending on what one knows about his/her own body. When it works...it's a money-saver.

There is nothing wrong with vacations. In fact vacations are necessary for all full time workers. We dont have enough vacation time here. Thats a problem.

I’m retired. My life is a vacation.

I'm one of the fortunate who has always been able to find work doing what I love, and so, have never worked a day in my life.

the ohplease christian has a very dull sense of humor ... they are indignant against anything not bearing a cross.

Some have a difficult time facing the changing times is all. As much as they long forvwhen women got married at 22 and had kids and were tending the house, those times are never ever coming back. Thats over and done. Its a new era, a better time.

Women used to go to college to find a husband but society told them this was wrong becuse they would end up barefoot and pregnant. So today women got to college and get friends while discovering they are lesbians. This is a good outcome?

What happens to children in a society like this? I think we are seeing that now.

Which children are you referring to? Ones in current families?

The government of president Donald Trump you mean. Schools teach socialism, communism, capitalism, and many other forms of human endeavors. Why do you hate free thought? You sound like a DSM II patient on his way to DSM III.
Trump is fighting hard to change that and succeeding. The nation is leaving the democrats and progressive ideology and shifting to a conservative position. Its easy to see the proof as millions flee democrats states and more to GOP states

Economic opportunity drives the majority. One will find all the bad qualities of humans in every state and every city. I live in NW Arkansas and housing is very high yet people are moving here in droves fer Walmart money.

In recent years, there has been a notable trend of people relocating from Democratic-leaning states (often termed "blue states") to Republican-leaning states (or "red states") in the United States.
Reasons for this migration
  • Cost of Living: Many red states, particularly in the South and Sun Belt regions, boast significantly lower costs of living, including more affordable housing, lower taxes (especially income and property taxes), and cheaper everyday expenses like fuel, electricity, and food, according to The Tax Foundation and StorageCafe.
  • Job Opportunities: Some red states, including Texas and North Carolina, are experiencing economic growth and diversifying their industries, attracting individuals seeking new job opportunities.
  • Lifestyle and Preferences:
    • Some individuals are drawn to red states for warmer climates and lower population density.
    • Remote work has also played a role, allowing individuals to pursue jobs in higher-paying blue states while residing in lower-cost red states, according to themortgagepoint.com and.
    • Personal freedoms: Policies around issues like reproductive rights and gun control, for instance, can also influence migration decisions.
Examples of states experiencing this shift
  • Inbound (Red States): Florida, Texas, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Idaho have seen significant population growth.
  • Outbound (Blue States): California, New York, Illinois, and New Jersey have experienced population losses.
Put simply, most of the faster-growing states are red, and most of the slower-growing states are blue, according to the Census Bureau’s estimated state-by-state population changes between July 1, 2022, and July 1, 2023.
Of the 10 states that experienced the fastest percentage growth in population from 2022 to 2023, the top five voted for Donald Trump in both 2016 and 2020: South Carolina, Florida, Texas, Idaho and North Carolina. Two others in the top 10 did so as well: Tennessee and Utah.
If those population-growth patterns continue for the rest of the decade, it could seriously imperil the Democrats’ long-term chances of winning the White House. Each state gets one electoral vote for each congressional district, plus two for its Senate seats. So electoral votes are linked to population, but not on a one-to-one basis.
Several analyses, including one by New York University’s Brennan Center for Justice, have projected what the electoral vote map would look like if the population-growth patterns seen in 2022-23 continue uninterrupted until the next round of reapportionment, following the 2030 Census.
