As a therapist who specialized in attachment and premature maternal separation this study was the foundation of my approach in my therapy. It was a ground breaking study because it refuted the belief that a baby is only attached to the mother for food and substanence. That the infant brain was incapable of an emotional bond. Any woman who has given birth knows this is a pile of garbage. Men dominated psychology and Freud was still a powerful influence. Harlow proved them all wrong.

Attachment, love, and commitment are different things.

I experienced "robot parenting" in the 1950s.
