America’s Future Is Hungary

MAGA conservatives love Viktor Orbán. But he’s left his country corrupt, stagnant, and impoverished.

Orban slowly replaced civil servants with loyalists; used economic pressure and regulation to destroy the free press; robbed universities of their independence; and shut one of them down; politicized the court system; and repeatedly changed the constitution to give himself electoral advantages.

This autocratic takeover is precisely what Bannon, Roberts, and other admire, and are indeed seeking to carry out in the US right now. The destruction of the civil service is already under way, pressure on the press and universities has begun, and thoughts of changing the Constitution are in the air.

P2025 may not be the only playbook trump is using to consolidate power. Orban's template in Hungary for assuming autocratic control isn't just the envy of the Right in the abstract, it's being utilized. The parallels are unmistakable. The headlines are full of them, from trump demanding control of universities to the evisceration of civil servants to proposing changes in voting law to suggesting the spirit if not the letter of the 22nd Amendment can be ignored.

It took Orban over a decade to slowly impose his will on Hungary. trump is trying to do it at warp speed. Aided by his top donor, who is attempting to buy a SC seat in WI just as he bought his way to power in the trump regime.

It is worth noting that HERE, the left has politicized and weaponized government institutions, education and the press.

We need to fight back against that.

I can't speak to the situation in hungary. if htey face similar issues, then yes, I hope indeed that the op is correct and that we can similiarly win this fight.

Correct.

And like Orban Trump seeks to corrupt the judicial process with unwarranted, authoritarian attacks on judges and the courts.

WE WON THE ELECTION. AGAIN. We get a turn.

If we never get a turn, even when we win, that is not a free country. THAT IS TYRANNY.

You might want to think about what happens, when you make peaceful change impossible.

That is certainly the lie the Right is telling while it politicizes and weaponized government institutions, education and the press.

Trump task force to review Harvard’s funding after Columbia bows to federal demands

One feature of autocratic rule is for the leader to set himself up as the savior from both external and internal, fictional threats. For example, protecting the country from a non-existent invasion. Or from the fictitious deep state.
Stalinberg is all for keeping the KLEPTOCRATS in place.
What's your cut? :asshole:

Correct.

It would be easy to stop if trumples were not in favor of autocratic rule.

Obviously the word "current" is beyond your understanding.

This doesn't surprise me.

<flick>
Completely understand. TUMP=HITLER wasn't working. And you cult masters are currently telling you that TRUMP=OBAN will be a more effective attack.

And you wonder why your cult is losing.

WE WON THE ELECTION. AGAIN. We get a turn.
Since when did winning a plurality of votes entitle any admin to usher in autocracy?

The United States government accidentally deported a man to El Salvador due to an "administrative error," landing him in a notorious mega-jail and leaving him stuck there in legal limbo, according to legal papers filed on Monday.

Kilmar Arbrego Garcia came to the U.S. in 2011 from El Salvador and is a legal resident protected by a 2019 court order that prevented him from being sent back to his home country.

But, in court papers filed Monday, the government admitted that "on March 15, although ICE was aware of his protection from removal to El Salvador, Abrego Garcia was removed to El Salvador because of an administrative error."

Garcia lives in Maryland with his wife and 5-year-old child, who is autistic and intellectually disabled. The couple both work full-time, the filing says. This incident was first reported by The Atlantic.

Your shit talk is dismissed. We will continue to push back on your movement in these institutions. You can cope how you like. The more you shit talk, the less relevant you will be.

.....

This is not about NOT being an autocracy, but about the left not wanting to give us our turn.

The more you shit talk, the less relevant you are.

I made my point. YOu felt a need to RESPOND, but you had nothing to actually say to address my point.

So... my point stands.

We won, it is our turn to have the policies we want. That you want to use the courts or the press to stop us, is YOU trying to be anti-DEMOCRATIC.

Your use of SUPPOSEDLY non-political institutions to try to stop us from having our chance at policy,

is what is anti-democratic.

You have it almost exactly backwards.

Trump is flouting the rule of law. He refuses to be held accountable to the Courts OR the Constitution

And yes… the Courts ARE the arbiter of what is legal and Constitutional

The courts are supposed to be the arbiters of what is legal and constitutional.

Instead we see them being used for partisan and political purposes by dem activists.

This is not to be stood for. It needs a response.

Being used for partisan political purposes?

According to who? The people who refuse to abide by them?

Trump?

Yeah. That

Correct. Trump, MAGA, we can see what you people are doing.

It is not law, it is RESIST.

That is not the purpose of the courts, that is an ABUSE of them.
