Americans are presently paying 90% of the tariffs put up by Trump. That is an additional $1,000 per year, per household

Forget the political party propaganda, Ask Any one living on less than 75 thousand dollars a year,
IF they are paying more & getting less. There in, is your answer.

All of those products used to be made in the US

How empty would your life be if china decided to punish us by withholding them?
No, that is incorrect. These products have NEVER been "all"-made in the U.S.

What has "always" happened it Republicans blaming the other countries for "taking advantage" of the U.S. Like it was the intent of other countries to "SCREW" the U.S.

Ever hear of Capitalism? Capitalism is an economic system where private individuals or businesses exist with the main goal of making a profit.

Can you actually blame other countries for doing the same thing Americans do (trying to make a good living)? There is a price to pay for being the best country in the world to live in. Trump wants to punish those countries even though the citizens of those countries are paying a high price for living there!

That is being simply a bully that has no humanity in hm.

So the largest tax increase in decades completely offset the income tax cuts.

My shocked face:

That is all true but tell that to poor and middle-class families that are struggling to pay for things they need.

I recently bought from TEMU, a machine for my feet (exercise, warm, and stimulate them) because of the painful Neuropathy pangs that my diabetes has brought about and it cost me $27.99. The same exact American-made machine goes for over $100. Why would I buy the expensive one if I get the same results with the cheap Chinese-made one?

You think I am going to pay more to American companies (and take it out of my pocket) just because they are American? No way!
So you have no problem using stuff made by other countries slave labor, as long as it saves you money?

Yes, I really need the machine.

If I started helping the U.S. economy, I would be hurting myself and given that MOST people are worried more about themselves, if I started helping the economy, I would be among the few that are doing it. Why would I want to be among the few? Trying to accomplish a goal but failing to make a meaningful dent is stupid.

By the way, which of these products do you use?

Smart phone
Computer
Shoes
Clothing
Coffee
Furniture
Lighting

because this is a fact:

Everyday items heavily reliant on imports for U.S. consumers include electronics (smartphones, computers), apparel and footwear, automobiles, and various food products like coffee, cocoa, and specialized produce. Over 90% of apparel and shoes are imported, while significant portions of home goods like furniture and lighting come from overseas.

If you are using any of these, you are not buying purely American
Made by Uighurs in China or kids working in Chinese mines in Afrika. But since that isn't here and it saves you money it's ok.

It's okay with a lot of peope, because wages are shit, and thats what they can afford. Because we decided pleasing billionaires was more important than our own economic self interest.

Those thing are not luxuries. TVs and cell phines are ubiquitous. See? You've swallowed the billionaire boot right up to the laces.

Good boy.

pagers, box screens work just fine.
Sure, you go buy a tube 480p TV and try to watch cable or antenna programming.

Report back.

And enjoy borrowing someone else's phone every day all day.

You people just react with your hindbrains to whatever is placed in front of you. Like amoeba. Stimulus/response.

Actually, if you think about it, I am helping those poor and unfortunate poor people live and survive, given that I didn’t buy those products, they would not even be able to eat. It certainly is more HUMANE than feeding the Billionaires that are the likely recipients of American made products

You had no problem when Biden raised costs per household by $10,000 per year…

And yet, inflation has dropped to 2.5%

Is buying from slavers your answer then?

Hey, “EVERYONE” in the world takes advantages of whatever is out there that helps their pocketbooks. It is not their fault that it is happening and they stopping that buying is not going to solve the problem.

And he's still lying about who pays the tariff. Tariffs are paid by the IMPORTING COMPANY at the Port of Entry before the shipment can be released.

Regardless, this info will be called "fake news".

Everyone, except thick liberals, knows who is physically writing the checks for the tariffs, but that isn’t the point.

Let’s assume that 90% are being absorbed by consumers and importers. Does that mean the other 10% is being absorbed by foreign exporters and manufacturers? Since Democrats like to call tariffs a tax, would it be far to say that a portion of the tax hike is being paid by foreigners? How is paying 90% of a tax hike not better than paying 100% of a tax hike? Would it also be fair to say that if this much of the tarriffs are being paid by consumers and yet our inflation numbers are about the same as they were in 2024 under Biden, that it is a win? More “tax” revenue, some of which is not even paid by us, and no runaway inflation.

We all know how it is with you. I don’t expect a response.

If we can stop growing the chinese military and bring back some of the jobs, this seems a very reasonable price.

It is worth noting that I have been against the high consumption culture we have been living in, for quite some time.

A decrease in consumer of cheap consumer items, I think would actually be a GOOD THING for Americans.
Buy American = 0 tariffs

Friends of America don't put tariffs on Americans. Canada has huge tariffs on American goods for example.
Fraud reduction, Reduced spending by GOVT more eaily achieved if tariff revenu comes in.

Get Congrss to act. Act on DOGE findings. Get them to stop the fraud and waste. Oh wait.....
Manufacturing is a matter of national security. End of story.
Gee, what a coincidence. All you folks managed to avoid how trump told us.........

President Trump Says His Tariffs Aren’t Paid by Americans. Corporations Are Indicating the Opposite.

So is he lying or does he not understand how tariffs work? It's one or the other.

Americans are presently paying 90% of the tariffs put up by Trump. That is an additional $1,000 per year per household

New Fed report on Trump’s tariffs confirms what most economists warned about

This has been proved by a recent research by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. "Nearly 90% of the economic burden is borne by American businesses and consumers

Research from the nonpartisan Tax Foundation indicates that tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, including those on China, the EU, Mexico, and Canada, cost the average U.S. household approximately $1,000 in 2025. This amount is projected to rise to $1,300 per household in 2026 if existing tariffs remain in place, with the costs primarily passed on to American consumers and businesses rather than foreign exporters.

and Trump announced this week that more tariffs are coming
False manufacturers are paying the tariffs. Inflation is coming down. CPI Is coming down.
