Only because Iran knows that the Hezbollah/Israel situation is unresolvable (largely because they keep feeding it!), so even if somehow the Israel/Lebanon matter were to be settled, Iran would just pick some new other issue to harp on as grounds to renege and close the Strait.

In the 47 years since this crap with Iran started, I cannot believe that the Middle East just ignored the issue and never worked to eliminate needing the Strait by building other ports, pipelines elsewhere, or a sea tunnel under Oman to bypass the Strait.

You sure don't see Hegseth on TV much anymore blowing his piehole about what an easy slam-dunk Iran was and how we totally dominate and own their skies and can operate freely there now with impunity.

The only way the regime is falling is if we go in there with boots and destroy the regime building by building. But the entire country is a hardened bunker with underground passages and storage. We have sat back and given Iran half a century to build a fortified country designed around withstanding a ground attack against us. So we either bite the bullet and commit to fighting this war to win, or Iran holds the planet in an oil crisis for years.

Trump is proving the USA to be a superpower juggernaut built to fight high-tech wars with other superpowers, air power, sea power, but not so good at fighting a bloody low tech ground war. Maybe that is because we have no real cause to fight for--- I mean, it wasn't like Iran was invading or attacking us overtly. They just mostly talked smack a lot making threats and taking pot shots at vulnerable targets when they could.

Iran is a lost cause. Destroying Iran's infrastructure and oil business at this point is far less costly and damaging than allowing Iran to continue screwing us along. Iran continues to finance Hezbollah and shows no interest in reigning them back to keep the USA off their backs.
