That would be a good start. But it would take BALLS, something our elected representatives don't sport.
You should be asking the voters to do something besides electing and re-electing professional politicians to run this once great nation. The politicians are only doing what we, the voters, allow them to do. As long as voters elect and re-elect professional politicians to run this nation, don't expect America to do anything except continue its downward economic spiral. Until voters realize that we've been sold out by the very ones that we entrusted with our well-being, expect more of the same from "The Washington Brotherhood". Until America elects pro-America representatives to serve in government, we'll be sitting back watching the collapse of what was once the greatest nation on Earth.
If you give the keys to the bank to the crooks, and the crooks rob the bank vault whenever they feel like it, and you never change the locks, whose fault is it that the bank continuously gets robbed? Think about it. We elect the crooks, then complain about what they do or don't do. Who's at fault, the crooks or those that elect them to office?

It is America as a whole that's falling apart. Look at poverty, the decreased home ownership, the millions receiving some form of government assistance, our national debt, illegal immigration, the lost of privacy, the injustices in our judicial system, the stupid deadly costly wars, our rundown infrastructure, our shameful prison population, Vets waiting months, even years, to get treatment, unaffordable health care, taxation without fair, equal, and just representation, the loss of the industrial sector ( our dependency on cheap foreign imports ), troubled pension funds, cities going bankrupt, out-of-control law enforcement, the innocent citizens in our prisons and jails, the failed war on illegal drugs, the failed war on poverty, air, water, and land pollution, government corruption, and our unfair, unjust, and one-sided foreign trade agreement and policies.
I imagine there are places where the infrastructure isn't too bad yet.
One might have hoped for leadership rather than political gamesmanship. But we're dealing with capricious, zealous and immature Republicans, so gamesmanship is all we can expect. What a shame, especially with a national election just 18 months off.
