I'm guessing that if I'm not, I'm probably in the one percent on this message board who knows it. I watch it every Saint Patrick's Day!! :D

Isn't it considered "wasist" now?

I watch Yankee Doodle Dandy every 4th of July......It may as well be a transmission into a black hole these days.

I used to love Yankee Doodle Dandy, I could sing all the songs.

We watch the Michelle Pfeiffer Midsummer Night's Dream every Midsummer Eve, we have for many years. :)

Never heard of it, but I do like that song. Why would the leprechaun movie be considered racist now? Or do I even want to know why?

Because it makes Irish people look like a bunch of little gremlins!

So,.. they're offended by mythical creatures? Well, I assume they're mythical anyways but if they were real it would be really difficult to spot and just because you haven't seen something doesn't mean it or they don't exist,.. but still,.. it's highly unlikely and even if they were real that's the same thing as saying that somebody is offended by chimpanzees because it makes them feel like a monkey since they're our closest relative. Well,.. some people are more evolved than others.

You DO realize I'm kidding??

Hey, here's something funny. My grandfather's family on my mother's side actually came from the Isle of Man in the British Isles. The Isle of Man has been heavily influenced by all surrounding cultures including Irish and Norse and even Scottish. One day I was doing some ancestry research and I found some old black and white photos of people on the Isle of Man from around the time our family was still there. The likeness to leprechauns is sometimes truly amazing! I think my grandfather also had some kind of Norwegian influence, judging by his appearance, but his mother was very Irish although she lived on the Isle of Man. He kind of had "those" sideburns, but he was tall and thin. Have a look at the "real" leprechauns in this photo which I found during my research! LMAO!

Note the slightly exotic woman which appears to be his wife. I think she probably has some Saami heritage from Finland. I've seen a number of photos from the Isle of Man showing "those people" .....whoever they are.

Did he race motorcycles?

Did he race motorcycles?

They were mostly all out of there by the time the first motorcycles rolled off the line. A few, mostly women, we're still coming across the pond a decade or two after that. I actually have a great aunt from the Isle of Man who died here in the states in the 50s... But she was actually born in India in the mid 1800's. We have no reason to believe there's any Indian blood in us though. Most likely she was the daughter of a British officer serving in India during that colonial atrocity that went down over there. One of our Manx uncles was killed in World War 1 by an Ottoman on the Eastern front. Another one of our Manx ancestors was born in Bremen Germany and was named Gustav! But he did have our last name. We assumed that he must have been The offspring of a British sailor and a German woman. He eventually came to America by himself at the age of 17 in 1867. There was no record of him after that. His ship docked somewhere in the Great lakes.

There's only one movie to watch on Saint Patrick's Day...

James Bond versus the Leprechauns...

Err... Darby O'Gill and the Little People

The name seems vaguely familiar but I don't know if I ever saw it before.

Never heard of the movie.

That museum sounds cool, whether or not leprechauns are real they're still neat,.. unless they're Warwick Davis of course. Then they're evil and horrifying.
