One of the reason people like myself supported Trumps policies was it is critical that America remain solvent and this means dealing with debt, China and an open border, primarily. It is imperative to avoid WWIII.

He promised he would hit China with a 60% tariff and even more if necessary which is very popular not only in America but among those nations at risk from Chinas immense rise and military expansion. Is it possible that he has too many weak China-First people on his team? I hope not, because if so Trumps term will be impacted greatly and China will be firing missiles into Taiwan before the end of his term.

If he determines that it's easier to just punish Canada et al and let China skate away, it will destroy his legacy. His threat to confront China wasn't a weak and meager "10% more than current tariffs". That's chump change compared to their tactics that have gutted U.S industries.

What do you mean by "elimination of overtime"? Do you mean overtime wages will be reduced? That would be illegal and unconstitutional. They should be mandatory double pay, not reduced. No working person will support this.

China has a commercial paper crisis from overbuilding...based on bad bonds.
And currently there are no jobs in China. Many corporations started to pull manufacturing from them 4 years ago.
Other nations in the Pacific Rim are now doing the same work they once did. China is massively suffering from a cash crisis in its banking industry. Which is why it wants to seize Taiwanese banks for their cash. The chip manufacturing is just an added bonus.

Malaysia, South Korea, Philippines and etc....all are producing American goods these days for similar prices as China once did.

Now just like how Russia can't afford to stop fighting in Ukraine....China can't afford to stop producing goods for the west either. Mostly raw materials and a few billion in finished goods. (Appliances are made there)
But what Trump wants is for the fentanyl production to stop. And they might be silent...but it will happen. China has a looooonnnnng history with narcotics that is not a pleasant read.
