This is like cutting off your nose to spite your face. First, someone, anyone, show me any study, from any firm, hell, I will even take one from FAIR, that demonstrates tariffs have any effectiveness in reducing illegal immigration. And the overdose deaths from synthetic opioids, did Trump's tariff's reduce them the first time. Hell fucking no, from 2016 to 2020 they increased by 192%.
Overdose deaths from synthetic opioids soared when Trump was president, raising issues about efforts to blame Biden border policies.

Drill bqby drill, LMAO. But slap a 25% tariff on our number one oil importer. And our number two, how flippin stupid can you be. Canada actually exports finished gasoline to us. Automobiles, first, there will be a shortage, many of the components used to build cars comes from Canada, the steel from China. And yes, even Mexico supplies some of those parts.
But food inflation is going to takeoff like a fire has been lit under its butt. Produce from Mexico, Beef from Canada. Look, I know you flippin Trump supporters don't realize it, but the previous Trump tariffs were the largest increase in taxes on the American people, the AMERICAN PEOPLE, since 1993 when measured as a percentage of GDP.
Look, one of two things is going on here, take your pick. First, Trump's knowledge of economics matches his vocabulary, about the fourth grade level. Watching Eric Trump's rant last night on FOX pretty much demonstrates the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
But second, well Trump thinks all those working class people that supported him, those people that are living paycheck to paycheck, struggling to get by, well they aren't actually struggling. I mean how the hell would he know what it is like. Born with a silver spoon in his mouth and shits on a golden toilet. For real people, wake up and smell the coffee.
The back of the envelope estimate is that the initial tariffs cost the average American household $800 a year. But, as several posters have said, that is just cheap Chinese goods. Combined with mass deportations, and slapping those same levels of tariffs on Mexico and Canada. well the food chain is going to get a major hit. Food insecurity is going to reach record breaking levels, and cuts to SNAP benefits, reduced WIC benefits, work requirements, elimination of overtime. I don't see anyway around it, times are going to get really tough, especially for the most vulnerable among us.
Then there is the cost of gasoline, I think I am going to buy some stickers, from China, before Trump takes office, "Trump did this", you know, like the Biden ones. Start selling them next summer. I wish, I wish, I wish I were a fish. Well you guys got it, you are now a fish.
