“Alternative facts” are gossip and lies.

Mass media fails to better serve the public if they do not clearly make it known if what they're publishing or broadcasting are facts or opinions. Facts or opinions should be attributable to credible and/or authoritative sources; it's preferable that those attributions also be generally available and subject to confirmation of many or most of the readers and listeners populations.

Mass media are disserving the public when they pretend or imply their publishing or broadcasting of “alternative facts” are other than gossip and lies; they are not true unless they're labeled as attributable opinions.
Fox News has often employed the slogan “fair and balanced” to describe their news coverage, while in fact they were primarily spreading gossip and lies. Respectfully, Supposn

the problem I see is people not seeing the fact being presented and focusing on the way it was presented,,,

the listener/reader can just as easily use their own bias and not see the fact through the information and how its being presented,,

There really is no such thing as an alternative fact.

That said, there are some apparent contradictions that aren’t real contradictions.

For example if I say “white” is the absence of all colors and “black” is the presence of all colors I could be right. It’s a statement of fact. But it actually depends on whether we are talking about light or pigment.

In light, all colors combined yields white.

In pigment, all colors combined yields black.

In politics, the silly phrase actually refers to something else entirely.

If they can't spread gossip and lies, what are the New York Times and Washington Post going to print?

Opinion is exactly that--the OPINION of the writer. He/She can attempt to justify it, but it is NOT based on facts necessarily. A news story that is presented as FACT, must be attributed to a source to substantiate that fact. You might try to understand the difference between news and opinion.

Toddsterpatriot, the NY Times printed the Pentagon Papers. The Wahington Poat exposed and follwed up on Waterrgate until they drove the Nixon White house down to ground. So it's accurate to state both of those newspapers, at least in those cases, printed the truth. Respectfully, Supposn

And now they do nothing but cover for leftards.

You took a long time to get where we all knew you were going. Democrats have a 90% choke hold on the media, yet constantly harp and cry about the 10% who don't share their world view.

And now they do nothing but cover for leftards.
When George Bush whooped the Dems ass twice in a row the gloves came off. The fake news have been openly in the tank for Democrats ever since. Lies, half truths, spun out of context propaganda everything is on the table. There's no dirty trick they won't use to rig elections for Democrats. To cover up Dem crimes. To ignore Dem corruption or attack the Dem's victims.

BackAgain, the phrase “alternative facts” in your provided examples refers to facts within three differing applications or scenarios. In your third example within a discussion of politics, an alternative fact is the disseminating of gossip or lies. Respectfully Supposn

You have a problem with people pointing out to you that your entire world view is based on lies provided by the media you watch.

Do you consider a lie to say Biden won the last election? Just trying to gauge your level of insanity.
