Alligator Alcatraz is already flooding.

No, not in Hurricane Alley they haven't. Three hurricanes hit Florida in 2024.
And none of them near this location. Miami gets hit, on average, every eight years. Usually with less than a Cat 2. And this airport is 40 miles inland from the coast.

You do understand how big even a Cat 2 is right? The Everglades is a drainage system. Any decent rain is going to smear this place. Thats why there isn't anything there in the first place.

El Paso would have been better. Plus a nearby major airport. This is all for show, yet again.

The tents are rated for Cat 2 hurricanes.

The Trump administration hasnt done one thing well. Hell they couldnt even bomb helpless Iran effectively. They couldnt fight the Houthies. They couldnt keep planes from sliding off the deck of an aircraft carrier and into the ocean... twice. They cant include the right people on texts with war plans. And they cant build a holding facility without it flooding.

And where will they relocate 3000 detainees?

Isn't the whole point of the existence of the tent city because everywhere else is full?
Load them on trucks and drive off. It's not like a hurricane lasts for days.

Second, this is just a thunderstorm. What happens when the next hurricane hits?
I’ll file that under “don’t give a ****”. Don’t break the law and you won’t get sent there. Problem solved.

Okay. So, it is not fancy hotels in Prog cities. We wasted billions and billions and billions of dollars on that. Even more. You insulted American citizens for others to live half decent.

Now answer without the usual whataboutism. Spending tens of millions for a camp in hurricane alley thats going to get smeared vs. building it where it won't is good because..what?

I think the initial cost is $450 million, that doesn't count year 2 (or 3 or 4) costs.

The locals will tell you that they have been taming the gators for decades. I'll bet that the cyclone fencing can not be breached. lol

Yea ok, and Trump vodka was a good deal.
You should bring up your engineering analysis and your concerns with Mr. Guthrie

"Meanwhile, Florida's head of emergency management Kevin Guthrie maintains that the facility — which was built in eight days — can withstand high-end Category 2 winds"

Yea, ain't it great? Illegals cost Florida taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars in medical costs every year.

Think of the savings!

IIRC - the money is being diverted from federal FEMA funds.
