Alberta says U.S. oil request ‘smacks of hypocrisy’ after it cancelled Keystone XL

Yet we still import 3.5 billion barrels a day from Canada and that number really didn't drop when Joe took over. Maybe we need to diversify and not rely on one source for so much crude oil.
Joe is begging like a bitch already to the OPEC pimps to pump more. I knew this was going to happen but not so soon. Also, before you bash crude oil, our Climate Czar Kerry depends on it for his private jet.

“Keystone XL would have provided Americans with a stable source of energy
BULLSHIT!
The pipeline was to divert oil from midwest refineries where it could only be sold in the USA to gulf coast refineries where it could be exported, thus REDUCING our gas supply.

Then they need to learn how to build their own pipelines in their own nation for shipping purposes. We have over 200k miles of pipelines for petroleum products.
Pipeline building knowledge is global.

Markets...not so much.

US oil companies are having parties because Biden is protecting their markets.

Chuckle...

Are you sure? Joe Biden is begging OPEC for output. Bush and Trump pushed drilling domestically and OPEC complied.

Oops, Canada is getting screwed, and US consumers are getting screwed.

Can't forget about screwing the middle class.

Yes I'm sure. The Dems tried to get Canada to agree to only sell oil refined in the gulf in the USA and they refused.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) has released export data that clearly corroborates President Obama's recent assertion that the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline is primarily about export. Politico reports that refineries in Port Arthur and Houston - which would be the primary recipients of crude oil delivered by the Keystone XL pipeline - exported over 60% of their refined product in 2014.

The EIA data shows that Houston and Port Arthur refineries exports reached over two thirds of their production in December 2014. This is the continuation of a trend that Oil Change International (OCI) first identified in 2012, when Texas Gulf Coast refineries began exporting slightly over half of their total refined product internationally.

But don't just take our word for it. Ask Valero, the refining company which has committed to the largest share of Keystone XL's capacity. It told investors in a February 2015 presentation that it intended to increase its capacity to export gasoline and diesel from its Gulf Coast refineries by nearly 20% in 2015 (from 667,000 bpd to 780,000 bpd).

Don’t tell me. Tell the President.

If the Dems tried to get Canada to sell US oil, then why did they trash it as environmentally unsafe??

Uh oh, Alberta isn't happy.

...........................

“The Biden administration pleading with OPEC to increase oil production to rescue the United States from high fuel prices months after cancelling the Keystone XL pipeline smacks of hypocrisy,” Alberta Energy Minister Sonya Savage said in a statement.

“Keystone XL would have provided Americans with a stable source of energy from a trusted ally and friend that adheres to the highest (environmental, social, and governance) standards in the world with industry commitments to net-zero production.”

NONE of the oil carried by the Keystone XL would benefit US consumers.

No but Democrats are in charge again and we are more dependent on foreign oil to the point where are President is begging OPEC to produce more oil. Prove me wrong on that.

If OPEC raises production the ppb will go down. Except for 2020 and Covid the US still imports about 8 million bpd from Mexico, Canada and Venezuela as well as small amounts from OPEC..

However since Trump sanctioned VZ we are buying that shortfall from Russia.

China had invested 15 billion in the Alberta tar sands and was helping to finance the pipeline.

LeftofLeft

Tar sand is so heavy and sour it sells at deep discounts.. like $29.00 a barrel. We have several refineries that were refitted to refine this cruddy crude, but the Canadians and Chinese can make more money shipping all of it to Free Trade Zones on the Gulf coast to be refined for export over seas. It's give them a huge tax advantage and doesn't benefit the US consumer. Its strictly and EXPORT pipeline.

Then why are we the number 1 oil EXPORTER in the world????

Why would I prove you wrong on that? You just made a compelling reason for US to be less dependent on foreign oil and to produce more here at home. No President should be begging for foreign countries to produce more oil.

As opposed to oil you get from Saudi Arabia? is that somehow a special beneficial deal for you?

Look, I've shared my opinion of Canadian police abuses against myself and my family. They have in effect, destroyed my life and career pursuits. I'm not going to defend the covert cretins and their offspring who have decimated our nation on a global scale. I will, however, call balls and strikes.

Therefore, as far as I am concerned getting oil from regimes that stone women to death, cut off hands for petty theft and treat women like cattle rather than creepy Canada, makes little sense to me. Economically or morally.

Now, I'm not American obviously and I'm not going to attack those who push these policies. It's your country, your election and leadership. I'm not going to pretend it makes sense though.

Trumps policies were winners across the board because he understood the principle of the butcher, baker and candlestick maker per Adam Smith. Now inflation is rampant while jobs are still being shipped overseas, your borders allow 100's of thousands of unskilled illegals a month and many in your government push for socialism.

Is this a winning combo?
The ultimate goal of liberals is to shut down as much oil production as they can, anywhere that they can, thanks to their hysteria over the man-made global warming disaster hoax

In 1985 or 1986 Papa Bush begged OPEC to produce less oil because our domestic producers were going broke. The US still imports 8 million bpd.

You don't know a bloody thing about the oil business. The US was importing 8 million bpd and since the 2020 Covid market slump we are back importing 8 million bpd.

Who cares? Bush, Biden, nor any President should be begging OPEC or any other foreign entity on oil matters. If the US optimizes drilling domestically, we are in a good spot and need not care what OPEC does.

Oh aren't you clever.. The US producers should flood the market, drive the ppb down and put themselves out of business.
