Republican Kenneth Paschal wins Alabama House District 73 in historic campaign

On Tuesday, Kenneth Paschal became the first Black Republican to be elected to the Alabama legislature since the Reconstruction period, which was about 145 years ago.

Did Reconstruction piss someone off or something and they stopped electing black folks in the party

Most recently it is probably because most blacks are in teh democratic party.


It is worth noting that that fact did not prevent white republicans from voting for him. Almost like they are judging him by his individual political platform instead of his race.
