Alabama and SEC Making NCAAF Boring

Boring? Ok. I guess you have your opinion. Personally, I thought last nights game was amazing. And all the other teams have to do is consistently beat Bama.

45 to 40 and you call that boring? LOL!! It was one of the best games of the year. Both teams deserved being there and Clemson has absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.
I call that horrible defense. Alabama's tackling was awful. The best tackle of the night was made by their right offensive tackle who was repeatedly beaten at the LOS. He had to resort to a form tackle to handle his assignment and was appropriately called for holding as a result.

Funny how that doesn't seem to happen much. Expect to be the best, work hard at it....seems to happen a lot.

That's all I have to say really.....
Detroit sports radio said Michigan used to not do shady recruiting practices like Ohio state and bama, but now harbaugh is doing the same things. I don't know all the details but something about over recruiting and cutting the ones that don't work out. Take away their scholarship, etc.

Anyways, the future looks very bright for university of Michigan. I can't wait for next year.

I'd be worried if I were Michigan state university

Shady? I guess that means someone got out recruited but can't find any rules that were broken.

Saban is a master of recruiting. And now it is even easier.

They were saying on the radio that Michigan used to not do that shady stuff but now with harbaugh we do.

We are expecting national championships. Kids want to play for Jim.

Expecting to and winning are two different things. So far Harbaugh has won nothing.

One pretty damn good first year and his recruiting is A+. I know they haven't won shit yet but I'm feeling confident.

They should have beat msu and they were in the final 4

Yeah, I'd like to see proof Bama has done anything shady with recruiting...... ;)

Oh but did you hear the latest?

The SEC is getting pissy because Harbaugh wants to come to Florida for some spring training with Michigan.... freakin' babies.

It's a fact. They aren't doing anything illegal just unethical. Ohio state does it too.

For years Michigan didn't do those things and I guess not doing those things put u of M at a disadvantage.

But now u of M is doing it. To win harbaugh has to do everything the big boys are doing, and he is.

I wish I had more details about what it is exactly teams like bama does. Something about promising scholarships to more students than they should then cutting them if they don't pan out.

And I'm not knocking bama or osu for doing it. If it's legal u of M should have been doing it all along. And we are now.

What's the problem with him doing that?

The SEC doesn't LITERALLY own the South!

Saban plays within the rules and gets the best athletes possible. He has dominated recruiting.

And whatever else you do in recruiting, winning games and championships will land you the cream of the crop better than any other ploy.

I'm not saying Saban is not a good coach/recruiter. I can't stand him - I laugh when women say he's good looking - I'd choose Bill Belichick over him....

And I'm not saying bama or osu are doing something Michigan isn't doing. Im saying Michigan and msu in the past didn't do it. And msu still doesn't do it. But u of M and harbaugh decided they are going to start doing it because like in bama and Ohio, the only thing that matters is winning.

I never cared if he was attractive or not. But he has transformed the program at Alabama.

they win too much.
of course, if it was my school winning all the time I'm sure I would have no complaints :)

There are a few ways that head coaches manage their scholarships that seem to annoy or upset people.

The program is allowed 85 scholarships. That is, 85 players who can suit up and play.

A Red Shirt is a player who works with the team, but doesn't play. He saves his eligibility and learns more. Not that long ago freshmen were not allowed to play. So this is no biggie.

A Grey Shirt is a player who delays his enrollment until the beginning of teh winter semester. The number of scholarships is based on enrollment date, so that scholarship doesn't count against that year. And the player can play for 4 years, including the semester after he graduates.

Then there is the Medical Hardship scholarship. They still get a college education, but it ends their chances of playing football at that level. A few people have claimed they were pressured to take it. But it beats being cut.

I don't see the problem with any of those. Saban has built a program that operates at the highest level, and focuses on winning and on turning those youngsters into men. I hope the other coaches follow suit.
