But you know what the absolute genius of this new 80 hour a month rule for deadbeat gangbanger criminal illegal aliens is?

It gets illegals off Medicaid. Why? Because the illegals (and there are many) who don't work and engage in stealing, drugs, loafing, murder, carjackings, thuggery off Medicaid because they can't now go to a top notch first rate hospital and get Cadillac medical treatments and free dental and vision unless they work, and they don'ty work. Those law-abiding illegals who have a steady job can still get Medicaid.

Beside the above I have also worked in construction.

There is definitely abuse of our welfare state. To what extent I don't know, but I have known people over the years who were perfectly capable of working, but were sitting around collecting disability or other forms of assistance. Is that enough to replace migrant labor? Doubtful.

So far as I can gather, people already on disability won't be subject to the work requirements as long as they remain on disability (they are supposed to recertify them more often now). Before farmers can hire legal migrants for seasonal farmwork, they already must advertise those jobs and give priority to American applicants. Few Americans even apply. Lastly those facing getting kicked of medicaid are mainly old people in their late 50's and early 60's. Their bodies are already worn out. They aren't going to be stooping over picking cabbages all day.

What I expect to happen is that the rising prices and shrinking availability of fresh fruit and veg will leave us having to resort to more factory canned or frozen products that can be machine harvested where blemishes and bruising won't be a factor. It could be a good thing in terms of less food waste, but some people would rather make their own apple pie than buy one frozen. Life is going to get more expensive for the latter folks.
