The same kind of people don't even want to work at fast food for $20 in CA but $25 in the fields? I don't think so. Cut off incentives to see the change.

I'm relatively new here, so I don't know all the players yet. I like the fact that the monitors allow name-calling here, though. A refreshing change from where I came from. That being said, this mantra of "Who will we get to pick our crops?" is a meme lie that even Republicans believe now and cower in the face of that statement. The reason Mexicans were imported as Baceros in the first place was that farmers didn't want to pay a fair wage for that endeavor. Younger uneducated people would say, "The hell with that! "$8.00 an hour working in the sun when that glass factory has AC and pays 9 bucks?" It was all about the Benjamins as it always is, as Ilhan Omar perfectly put it. The farmers gave donations to politicians to get them slave labor, and we have allowed it ever since.

Because it implies that only Mexicans would pick crops, and that is a meme that should be discarded. The truth is that I would pick crops for the right wage, and so would many younger people. The REAL reason is we just don't want to pay a fair price, so we look the other way and get slaves to do it.

They are here because Mexico is a shit country and minimum wage here is far more than they would get if they didn't come here illegally. They work cheap and for slave wages because of where they escaped from.
